Someone needs to explain to me how Magic Pie is worse than TNOR (fuck that song). Magic is Pie is brilliant. Go eat some Humble Pie. Because people have different tastes to you and not everyone thinks that Magic Pie is a good song. As for The Nature Of Reality well I've heard worse and I'm not saying that it's even one of my favourite Oasis songs because it isn't. But there's a lot worse by other artists.

I'd love to hear a version of Magic Pie with different chorus lyrics and Liam vocals. The verses are fantastic and I also dig the woozy intro and the lazy-summer-day guitar solo. Not sure it ever deserved a place on Be Here Now but at the very worst that would make it an excellent b-side in an era that could have done with a few more of those.

Never understood the big hate for that song. It's not the best Oasis song, obviously, but it's not the worst either. Actually it's not the chorus I would criticize a bit, but more the pre chorus. Melodically that part is not really strong. And it's probably one of Noel's worst vocals performances on an Oasis song, which probably doesn't help the track's reputation.

The hate comes much from the fact that it was supposed to be the DLBIA of BHN, being the only Noel sung song on it of course, it doesn't help at the time Noel said it was one of the best thing he ever wrote.

I fucking love this tune. Always have. Been listening to this live performance a couple times a day after I recently found it. Phenomenal - and Noel’s passion here is superb. I actually really like the lyrics. The ‘magic pie’ phrase could be my only gripe, but magic pie is subjective and open to interpretation - I like that. The album version drags on to fuck. The live version is so much better. Fuck you haters. Imagine this majestic pop perfection of a performance being one of your worst songs. Seriously. It’s brilliant.

Truth hurts 😢 But seriously I think if not Magic Pie (skip!) and the last 4 min of AAtW (test of patience) BHN would be less criticized. Other than that this album is quite enjoyable for most people. Don't think Magic Pie is *that* bad, not even the worst song on the record imo It's just average and goes on too long, but I do think it would be seen as a normal album track if it wasn't the only Noel sung song, which on the previous record was Don't Look Back In Anger What song on BHN is worse than Magic Pie? Genuine question. You can find easily worse songs than Magic Pie on the post 2000 oasis albums but not on BHN. I don’t hate the song but it drags down the average quality of the record imo

Well that’s controversial. I thought maybe Fade-in Out or It’s Getting Better (Man!!) Oh I'm gonna die on the It's Getting Better (Man!!) hill the most pointless outro of all time but it's such an uplifting track with some of my favourite lyrics Fade In-Out I initially wasn't a fan of but I'm a fan now, it's not as immediate at the rest of the record but it's got a bluesy vibe I really dig, it's a bit like Hey Now on WTSMG Be Here Now (the song) is just plain average to me, bad lyrics and nothing particularly noteworthy, Stay Young shoul've replaced it

What was it? Why was it? I like Fade In-Out and It’s Getting Better (Man!!), brings more character to the album if it makes sense, but I know these songs are not fan favorites

TGITDS would be it's only competitor (Cos it's a bit plodding and the chorus drags) and even then it's quite a bit better than MP, the bridge is great.

The Girl In The Dirty Shirt stands to me as being the worst song on the record. The drums just don't have the required pep to stop it plodding along. The whole song feels a little clunky in fact.
Magic Pie isn't nearly as bad as some people make out. I think the dumb chorus lyric takes a lot of the responsibility in that regard.
Going Nowhere is the only b-side that should've been considered for the album. Bizarrely Noel didn't demo it in Mustique or record it during the album sessions. Seeing as it was being name checked as a potential song for album number 2 it'd be interesting to find out why Noel wasn't even considering it for album 3.

D' You Know What I Mean? The best song on the album My Big Mouth, a good song but I don't listen to it much Magic Pie, I can't Stand Stand By Me, it would be better if it was shorter and I've always preferred the acoustic version by the pool I Hope I Think I Know, a good song but again I don't listen to it much Girl In The Dirty Shirt, I've never really liked it much Fade In Out, I've always liked it especially the live version Don't Go Away, I've always liked it Be Here Now, it's not bad but sounds better live All Around The World, it's ok but it should have been a lot sorter It's Gettin' Better (Man) I've never really liked it and it just goes on and on which is boring All Around The World (Reprise), is just crap.

D'You Know What I Mean? - agreed, best song on the album My Big Mouth - atrocious production, undeniable melody, good fun Magic Pie - not bad, a bit plodding, some nice lyrics Stand By Me - chorus lets it down a bit but the rest of the song is actually some of Noel's best melodic stuff, it's the song through which I discovered Oasis so bonus point I Hope I Think I Know - love it, one of the most underrated Oasis tracks The Girl In The Dirty Shirt - same, that bridge is absolute gold Fade In Out - grew to like it, it's a nice change of pace and mood compared to the rest on a record that *really* needs it Don't Go Away - lovely ballad, some of Liam's best vocals, magnificent middle eight Be Here Now - useless All Around The World - should've been 5 minutes shorter, it's a complete mess and a tad cheesy, yet I find it extremely charming It's Getting Better Man - outro goes on for hours, but it’s such a genuinely joyous song I'll forever defend it All Around The World reprise - useless

All Around The World also sounds better live but it certainly should've been shorter than what it was. As for It's Gettin ' Better ( Man) i would probably like it if it didn't go on for so long as that's what let's it down for me.

Yep. The song should be a delicious, summer-y pop song in the vein of She's Electric, but the production and drumming make it feel far too "lumpy" to me. Like so many Be Here Now tunes, if 1995 Oasis had recorded it, it'd have been a smash radio hit. The great song is in there, somewhere. Still like it on the whole, though. Gorgeous verses and bridge.

Yes, agree about Girl In Dirty Shirt. Good song in there, bad bad recording. Maybe the first of the plodders - fucking hell, Noel can’t help himself, it really is his worst habit as a songwriter. I often think there’s so many good songs of his that are ruined by the sheer heavy plodding nature. He massacres most of the songs on the first HFB album, some on the second and then he gave us Wandering Star recently and latter Oasis was just littered with them - Let There Be Love being the worst. Can’t think of a songwriter who has a nice tune and destroys it in the studio quite like Noel to be fair. Not helped by the dreaded Dave Sardy who seemed to get a furious hard on by sucking the life out of these songs and producing songs this way too.
I think back to some stone cold classics now and think ‘shit, that song escaped murder in the studio’. For all of Noel’s complaints that they never got Cast No Shadow right in the studio (they didn’t, the drumming is world class in that one), well I’d hate to hear a modern version now - I can only think it would be a lumbering mess.
This is what David Holmes should be given credit for. He really got Noel away from that, and Who Built The Moon has no ploddingness in sight. Some positive signs that Noel himself is taking that on board though, even for his more traditional tunes, for example a brilliant tune like A Dream Is All I Need To Get By would have been butchered in the studio ten years ago.
As an aside, a shout out to Pete Lockett too who really added some vibrancy with his world class percussion on Its A Beautiful World. More of this class please and less of the plod.
