The 80's produced many of those one hit wonders or artists who had a few hits, and you could not escape them on radio and tv, and one thing is for sure: those songs had chorus that sticks on your ears like gum on your hair, once you hear it was hard to take them out of your head, and also let's not forget the synths, the 80's trademark.

Hall & Oates had some hits and these two are their biggest I guess.

Chicago brought some absolute classics to the genre during the David Foster era.
This is one of the greatest songs ever. Steve's voice is pure magic.

Chicago brought some absolute classics to the genre during the David Foster era. This song is from Pete Cetera solo, it was a huge hit back in the day.

I don't know any other Tears For Fears tune apart from this and Mad World, but what a tune. An absolute belter. Tears For Fears had plenty of hits, they have a greatest hits album called Tears Roll Down, at least 10 out of 12 songs were big hits, for starters I recomend this greatest hits album and to anyone interesting n them.

But I agree with you, NR awesome tune, I like Don't Cry too, both Use Your Illusion albums has that BHN grandiose vibes, it's been ages that I don't listen to an GNR album.

Great analogy with Be Here Now and Use Your Illusion. Biggest band in the world (or at least America) at the top of their game for the most part. It really was the end of an era with power metal hair bands. I remember the day the music died on that mass movement for metal. Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Instantly it made bands like Guns N Roses look like Spinal Tap parody bands. Nirvana brought an edge of realism I haven't seen much since. The game would forever be changed. People just wanted the truth moving forward. At least till the late 90s.

Yeah Nirvana was a big deal back in the day, all of suden Nirvana were comepeting with Michael Jackson as equal and beat him, also they really opened the doors for "underground", a term people don't say anymore. Thank god Nirvana dispatched those cheesy metal hair bands like Twister Sister and Motley Crue, and also Guns 'n Roses, but GNR ended up being the best of the bunch, people still talk about them, not a huge fan but I can appreciate their music, both Use Your Illusion albums were really ambitious, but at the time Nirvana came and the rest was history.
