Because I think we do need to write it down....
The Be Here Now Manifesto goes:
Be Here Now is the best, snort cocaine all the time.

You can feel the cocaine coming through the speakers when you hear it.

It is the best Oasis album of all time. Honestly. Fuck Morning Glory. Morning Glory is a collection of absurdly good songs with filler songs on it. It doesn't flow as an album. Be Here Now does. Everything reason Noel has ever given for Be Here Now not being good enough is applicable to Morning Glory in my opinion. Throwing away great b-sides and having filler on the actual album? Hello, Hey Now and She's Electric are the proof of that. Even the though of Hello opening is fucking miserable. Production? Never thought Morning Glory sounded like Oasis. It has a polished feel to it as opposed to the rawness of Definetely Maybe and Be Here Now. It works on some of the songs like Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Cast No Shadow and Champagne Supernova but Roll With It hasn't got enough balls in my opinion.
The only song on Be Here Now that seems too long for me is It's Getting Better Man and in a way it works because just by the time you've gotten sick of it, you feel doubly happy to hear the reprise of All Around The World.
Be Here Now is quite simply Oasis's mastepiece.

As if there wouldn't be any filler tracks on Be Here Now. The only thing that sounds remotely like filler to me on Be Here Now is the last three minutes of It's Getting Better Man. Definetely Maybe also has it's three stinkers; Up In The Sky, Bring On Down and Digsy's Dinner. That's why Be Here Now is better than the other two. There are no tracks that seem totally out of place, it flows perfectly like an album. I'm not saying Hello is a bad track per se, it's ok but it shouldn't start the album. They should have kept Acquiesce and started with that instead. Also why throw away tracks like Round Are Way and The Masterplan but put bollocks like Hey Now and particularly She's Electric on??? I did actually like Hey Now until I heard Who Feels Love? They recycled the same chord change but I think it works a lot better on WFL.

What is and what is not a filler is of course subjective, but calling those three DM tracks stinkers is beyond my imagination. Ok, Digsy's Dinner I could live without(although it has its charm), but Bring It On Down(especially this one, top 10 material for me) and Up In The Sky are miiiiles better than Magic Pie and The Girl In The Dirty Shirt. I also prefer Hey Now and She's Electric to those tracks. But that's just me.

(What's The Story) Morning Glory flows perfectly for me. Also, I don't think it sounds un-Oasis at all, it's slightly more polished than Definitely Maybe, but it's still very abrasive, even the ballads (Wonderwall especially).
As for Be Here Now, it's a great album (light years ahead everything they've done after) but DM and WTSMG are untouchable.

I think Be Here Now is the best album. Not as good as Definitely Maybe musically, but because of the hype surrounding it and the stories from the studio and that time, it seems like the best one to listen to and live the experience they had! Obviously we can't hear any messages because the lyrics are nonsense, but they had the best time anyone has ever had recording an album- ever! They had the most anticipated album ever just around the corner, they were drugged up 24/7 and had every newspaper in England waiting outside their house! This album reflects that time, so I think it's the best

Be Here Now is a perfect snap shot of the times. When you listen to it, it instantly feels like 1997 and all the rock n roll excess that came with it. Sign of the times.

There was a fan edit I downloaded years ago (NOT the soniclovenoize version, this one is better) that was brilliantly done. He did some work in Audition to minimize the brickwall effect as well and added some bass which you can actually hear now in the mix. It's the only version I listen to and it's my favorite Oasis album.
Here are his notes:
OASIS - BE THERE THEN Original album: Be Here Now (1997)
What’s wrong with the original?: I’ll let Noel Gallagher handle this one. “It’s the sound of a bunch of guys on coke in the studio not giving a fuck. There’s no bass to it at all. I don’t know what happened to that…and all the songs are really long, and all the lyrics are shit, and for every millisecond Liam is not saying a word, there’s a fucking guitar riff in there in a Wayne’s World stylee. Fucking air guitar gone mental. But Liam thinks it fucking rocks.”
What’s different about my edit?: It’s missing 13 minutes of repeated choruses and identical instrumental breaks. I’ve also tried to fix the clipping caused by brickwalled mastering.
How does that change the listening experience?: The songs don’t overstay their welcome anymore, which makes their melodic charms more readily apparent. The production is still overblown, of course (undoubtedly an attempt to up the ante after (What’s The Story) Morning Glory) but the enhanced dynamic range does allow the arrangements to breathe a little more.
For example It's Gettin' Better (Man!!) is a much more concise 5:13

To me, BHN is perfect and I'd change absolutely nothing about it. You can't just take the madness out of it or it is truly ruined. Each to their own, I guess, but proof for me is that imo NG's rethink of DYKWIM already lacked the power and spirit of the original and I can't imagine this happening to the whole album.
