Is it fair to say that if Oasis got back together and toured America they'd be in places like Madison Square Garden again? They always seemed to play the big venues even after the 90s heyday. 110% ...and i would be there too

Sooooo....Did you take the Detroit freebies? I’m mostly curious if they are non-sold VIPs?

America holds the key to an Oasis reunion when you think about it. Oasis charted well there in the 90s and continued playing massive gigs years later, but it's always felt they didn't become as big as they should have in the US. So could be considered the band's only remaining unfinished business there. I wonder after Noel's 5th solo album (inevitably to be recorded on Mars with David Holmes sampling some Martian new wave tunes and Johnny Marr playing the Sputnik) The Chief will take stock and think it may be time to finally "crack America" with Oasis. One can only dream perhaps but hey, as Noel knows only too well - It's never too late to be what you might have been.

They're never cracking America mate They did it, or at least came as close as they ever will do to doing it, in the 90s with Morning Glory - and really only three songs - Wonderwall - DLBIA - Champagne Supernova Are well known enough over there, it seems. After that they had a huge lull until DBTT, which peaked at 12 in the album charts, and then DOYS which I believe got to 5. They had successful tours and if they got back together I imagine they could fill arenas like in 2005-2008, but that'd be about it.

Oasis isn't obscure in America. They are well known. They did well enough over here for what they were willing to do to get there. I'm ok with that.

Everyone knows the name and the quick story.............Wonderwall and fighting brothers. They just didn't sustain success like U2, Coldplay or even fucking Muse.

I'm ok with them not being those bands.

Everyone in America, even those born in the 90s know Wonderwall. They don’t know much else, but Wonderwall is still a known song.

Small bugbear. Oasis are... Not, Oasis is... You bloody Yanks and your silly grammar If the collective noun refers to the group as a unit, then it takes a singular verb. If it refers to the individuals in the group or the parts that make up the group, then the verb should be plural.

If it refers to the individuals in the group or the parts that make up the group, then the verb should be plural. It's a Brit-American thing really (not sure if you're American or British?). But Oasis are a group of a people. Oasis is, just doesn't fit right, even though, strictly speaking, I suppose you are right. oasispodcast can back me up

At this point I feel like the only thing that can bring Oasis back together is to give both Noel and Liam each a frontal lobotomy so they'd be like docile little robots.

Re The is/are debate -If you’ll allow me to get political for a moment - I think it goes deeper into the fact that the US is historically a more Capitalist society than the U.K. In the US you talk about sports teams as “franchises” - ie a commercial operation and a separate entity, not just the sum of the parts of the people involved. In the U.K. we view our sports teams (and football teams in particular) as part of the community, so we talk about them as a group of people.
Same goes for bands. If you think of the band as a group of people, then it is “Oasis are”, but if you think of them as a separate corporate entity, like a business or a franchise then it’s “Oasis is”.
Anyway having dropped that grenade im now going to hastily retreat...! As you were

Quit your bitching and don’t forget to get the VIP package! Does it include an awkward meeting with Noel and a picture where everybody will smile but him? And when he’s secretly thinking “fookin Americans but one more vacation home for me haha” My mistake.... holiday home 😂 You don't even get an awkward meeting with Noel for the "VIP" package. You get to have your pictures taken with some of his other trophies, but no meet-n-greet. We're too unwashed.

Sorry but I wouldn’t spend $400 for that.

Re the is/are debate: fuck conjugations. In Mandarin (and other languages) there aren't any conjugations. Instead of saying I am, you are, he is, we are, they are, you just say 我是, 你是, 他是, 我們是, and 他們是. Note the same "是" (means "to be") no matter the pronoun. No need to memorize all the different forms of the same verb. Now that's how you do a language, motherfuckers.
