I love 6 Music, I really do, but a subsection of its listeners I cannot stand.
For any Gallagher related news that is posted on the 6 Music newsfeed on Facebook (or alternatively, The Guardian music section), you get boring wankers becoming hysterical that THIS kind of music is being played or covered for a media outlet that is supposed to be for CEREBRAL listeners.
Well fuck them. Anyone who can fill an arena and create a rare moment of communal activity and send everyone home happy is doing a great job - both Gallaghers do that. That is the job of great musicians and singers and that is the fundamental appeal of music that stretches back millennia. Anything less and any attempt to rationalise it as some sort of intellectual pursuit just really shows these snobs don't really understand music at all.

I actually wonder if they like music at all. You've said it all. Fuck them.

Love that they played the demo of Little James, probably by mistake. Obviously someone went and sourced that from YouTube or something.

Listening to this as I type and I'm loving it.
"Bodies" by the Pistols was my most favourite song from their album when I was younger. "Her name was Pauline and She lived in a tree".

Don’t really want to bring this up for fear of creating arguments or controversy. We’ve been over the split and Noel v Liam many times but I’ve never heard this mentioned before. In this interview Liam mentions that back on the last Oasis tour in 2009 he overheard a conversation between Noel and the manager, this would be Marcus Russell about Noel possibly leaving the band and going solo. He said it happened before the gig at Bridlington Spa, which was on 20th August 2009. He heard Marcus telling Noel that “it’s now or never”. He says they spoke of renting a house in LA and doing something with Dave Sardy. It is mentioned at 22:30 podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-first-time-with/id383609641?i=1000444521386

He who advocated for Sardy and advised the ditching of the AA collaboration. He’s like a really shit Jon Landau (Springsteen’s manager). It’s partly because of him that Noel’s solo career has, with the exception of Built The Moon, been dull as dishwater. Another boring yes man in Noel’s entourage, on top of the likes of Sardy, culminating in the blandest safest solo career. Of course, it’s ultimately all up to Noel but you can’t help but detect insecurity with Noel refusing to work with people who might just have a different idea to offer him. Liam’s solo career doesn’t reinvent the wheel of course but at least his doesn’t sound tired. Noel’s songs do at this stage.

To be fair Marcus Russell must have some serious diplomacy skills to keep the band together as long as they did. He must have had some input into resolving the following: Noel leaving the band after the infamous Whiskey a go go gig in September 1994. Noel leaving the US tour in September 1996. Noel leaving the tour after the fight in Barcelona in May 2000.

There is a lot of revisionist history with the Oasis split. NG and LG hadn't spoken for the best part of a year by the time they played Bridlington. Separate hotels, separate buses etc. It was worse than it is now. They were clearly miserable. At that time, there was always a plan for Noel to do something on his own (not splitting up the band of course), same with Andy (pre Ride reunion, he was rumoured to be releasing a solo album), and Liam launched Pretty Green that summer, so the plan was always for a long break in 2009, 2010, 2011 etc. The idea that NG was plotting something or doing anything that wasn't agreed and planned at that point simply isn't true, and the Sardy thing was discussed way before they split.
