I'm all for the kitchen sink approach - I love the wall of sound from Oasis/Noel. But coming off of WBTM, I reckon it would be cool if Noel could slow it back down and deliver one hell of an acoustic album.
Dead in the Water - albeit a serendipitous release - showcases what he can still deliver in this realm.
Alone on the Rope, God Help Us All, While the Song Remains the Same all point in that direction, as well.
Would love Noel to fully embrace the singer/song writer title in his 4th solo album.
Come on Noel, me ol' mucker, you know it makes sense. This time in four years, you will still be a millionaire!

Not a Fucking chance. He’s already said he’s working with Holmes again. No acoustic please. Not yet anyways. Maybe years from now.

I love me some Noel acoustic but I'd welcome the sequel "Who Built The Moon Part II: Electric Boogaloo".
I can just imagine the cinematic trailer for it. "In their second outing, The High Flying Thunderbird and his fluorescent Irish sidekick (or is it the other way around?) high tail it to the mystical shores of Belfast searching for the heavenly sounds of Space Grime with a touch of Cosmic Jazz. But first they must evade the evil clutches of the Parka Monkeys who clamour for well constructed melodies which don't sound like Ricky Martin. COMING SOON!! (If you think 4 years is soon)."

Noel has never delivered the album he claims will follow up the most recent one. DIV was scrapped. 30 songs left over from DBTT was supppose to be the follow up from that 2005 album Kitchen sink for DOYS was scrapped in favour for Sardy’s grooves There are more examples but those are off the top of my head. What Noel says now will ultimately change within 4 years.

I might be misremembering but didn't he say in an interview somewhere that he wants to follow up WBTM with an album in a similiar direction, but that he was considering the one after that to possibly be stripped back and acoustic.

Well there are songs leftover from the sessions with Holmes, so I say pick up with those and get another record out quite quickly. Personally I never wanna hear a full 'acoustic album' cause it's too boring. What I WOULD like is for him to take the Holmes project and refine it. WBTM is almost there...but not quite. The next one should be more bold.

Songs like Dead In The Water - which embody Noel's typical qualities at the peak of Oasis - are the exception, not the rule with him these days.
No acoustic album please - I fear it would simply not be varied enough and risible lyrics would be exposed badly in this setting.
He needs to pursue more exciting sonic adventures like Who Built The Moon before reverting back to type. It would be a total cop out if we got the same old Noel for the next album, which if going by the first two pleasant but unspectacular first High Flying Birds album, is something I certainly won't be anticipating.

Agreed - Dead in the Water works so well after WBTM because it is the only acoustic song on there, and also because it's damn good. Noel can't necessarily write 12 songs that sound this good in acoustic versions, and he definitely can't write 12 songs that sound interesting when they're ALL acoustic. There are more examples but those are off the top of my head. What Noel says now will ultimately change within 4 years. He also said that Don't Stop Being Happy would be among the unreleased tracks from HFB/CY that would end up on album three, although he was already working with David Holmes at that time.
