Further listening to WBTM, and it's becoming clear to me that this album really didn't deviate too far from classic Noel, and there are quite a few tracks that would fit under the Oasis moniker in one way or the other. You pick three tracks, and then we discuss. Got it? Good. Mine, in order... 1. Holy Mountain 2. Black & White Sunshine 3. She Taught Me How To Fly Holy Mountain is the new Round Are Way Black & White Sunshine is the new Who Feels Love, with a more euphoric, and classic Oasis chorus She Taught Me How To Fly would nestle nicely in on SOTSOG nicely. BOOM. SORTED MATE. mystoryisgory

And I dare you to find an Oasis song that channels New Order as much as She Taught Me How to Fly. You're absolutely right on Black & White Sunshine, though. Listening to it is enough to wonder if there's a version with Liam singing in the vault. And let's not forget The Man Who Built the Moon and If Love Is the Law. The former is what all of Dig Out Your Soul would've sounded like had a real producer been at the helm, and the latter reminds me of Oasis if only because it succeeds at the Christmas vibes that You've Got the Heart of a Star could only dream of. And the harmonica reprise from Mucky Fingers.

I'd say the last three.
Black and White Sunshine sounds like Oasis meets HFB; a la the vibes on Stop the Clocks, Record Machine, some sort of DBTT rocker outtake, and Part of the Queue (without the different time signature) altogether as one.
If Love is the Law only really sounds like Oasis because of how it's acoustic guitar-driven and there's a bit of harmonica, but it's used in a different way than how it was used in Oasis.
The Man Who Built the Moon is somewhat similar to Wonderwall with its grandiose nature and some of the chords, but that's about it.

The last three, though Dead In The Water would have made a brilliant closer for any Oasis album.

Dead In The Water and Black & White Sunshine, that's it. Holmes spent the entire process getting it NOT to sound like Oasis and he did a good job.

Are you kidding me with Holy Mountain? Keep on Reaching with that comparison.
The easiest choice is The Man Who Built the Moon. This sounds Oasis to me. Easily could have fit on SOTSOG or DOYS. On radio X Noel was saying it was the most Oasis sounding song and its why he had to write 8 different choruses. And in the end, I still think the chorus sounds like Oasis, even though Holmes didn't think so, Noel got to keep it. Thank God. (I love the whole project and change in direction, but I'm also on the side of don't kill the melody just to be different. If you have something awesome, don't fuck with it). This turns out to be the best song and sounds most like Oasis. Hmm. Who would have thought?
Black & White Sunshine is next. Its an electric version of something that would have fit on DBTT.
I struggled with the third. Voted BCWYWF. Just figured it was something post-BHN that we all would have shat on.
Hell. Fort Knox being FITB could be one. But Holy Mountain, KOR and ILITL are nothing like Oasis. IABW and STMHTF are way too 80s to be Oasis.
