I have always thought of NGHFB as a name for his solo act and not a proper band. His studio musicians and live band can be replaced any time. It is fluid. However, in reviews it's always referred to as him being in the band NGHFB or his live band is the HFB.
I know it is not important and for the casual or non fan it might as well be a band but I prefer it to be considered his solo vehicle or something like that.
Do you view NGHFB as a band or a solo act?
Are there other solo acts that are also referred to as bands all the time?

Definitely a solo act with a settled backing band for two albums but it is interesting that Sharrock, Russ or Gem didn't appear on WBTM.

Solo because Noel writes everything, tells them what to play and the band are just to play it live.

Tim and Russ didn’t appear on the first two either, and apart from drummers there’s rarely anyone other than Noel playing on his Oasis tracks. Just how he works. |

Solo and I think it's a great name. Can't get much worse than the name Oasis. It's a bloody odd name if you think about it.
It's not quite the same as Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac or Wings, as those were actual bands who had other members writing songs, singing and contributing in the studio.
It's more just Noel's stage name.

I always think it's a tad odd when people go solo and get some kind of band name as opposed to their own name, especially if their own name isn't included in that name

Did anyone actually think High Flying Birds were a real band? I can see people getting confused with Tame Impala but not with Noel.

I still think there is a nod to Macca there, but Noel won't admit it, because he probably hates being rumbled too often on Beatles references. Wings - High Flying Birds. |
