IF YOU told 1997 Noel Gallagher that in 20 years he would be making self-described "Cosmic-Pop", with French dialogue being used, and a lass playing the scissors as a musical instrument all the same year that Liam Gallagher had a solo #1 UK Album, what do you think his response would be?

I'd pick that over Be Here Now.

1997 Noel was making Big Beat and Drum 'n' Bass tracks and doing remixes.

Cosmic pop ? He'd say: "Watch MTV and wait for that".
As for Liam making it to #1 he'd say : "Of course he's #1, i have written all his fuckin songs".

Cosmic pop ? He'd say: "Watch MTV and wait for that". That's not cosmic pop. It's not, it was a response to the first part of the question, as in "look, i can do something else than rock n roll". Of course it"s not Cosmic Pop, what is Cosmic pop anyway ?

The Chem Bros and The Prodigy supported Oasis in Knebworth in 1996, so Noel on a Big Beat tune in 1997 is not suprising at all. Unlike that french cosmic pop thing xD

I'd pick that over Be Here Now. No way. Nothing will ever top BHN. But I would have loved this album to follow BHN. In some ways I reckon this is the album Noel always wanted to make after 1997, but didn't have the balls to do it back then. He said the door closing at the end of BHN was the end of that chapter, and the next album would be in a total different vain. This is what should have come next, then Oasis Mk2 may have been a whole lot different (better).
