We all know that Noel Gallagher makes his inspirations blatantly obvious in his music. I was wondering if anyone how noticed any riffs or melodies in this album so far? Obviously we have Holy Mountain and Ricky Martin She Bangs. I also listen to Be Careful What You Wish For and here The Beatles Come Together. Black & White Sunshine I want to sing In The Heat of the Moment to. Any others that people have noticed. I did hear Ian Brown in one but can't for the life of me think which one now.

Well I guess he's obviously taking titles from Books (Who Built the Moon? and The Importance of Being Idle) but musical influence seems to be getting different for me to hear Ricky Martin. Was wondering if anyone heard anyone else?

Any particular songs that you here? The reason I ask is I have all the songs that Oasis plagerised/borrowed from and was wondering if this album was the same. Since I started this thread I have looked on the If Love Is The Law thread, I'm loving this song but since someone posted it, all I can hear is boyzone now

Can't pinpoint a specific song but both Beautiful World and She Taught Me How To Fly have riffs that sound a lot like New Order.

Noel did say, in that track by track yesterday, that for She taught me how to fly Holmes demanded a guitar track "you can dance to", so Noel only could think of New Order and Talking Heads, et voilà!

Holy Mountain wasn't inspired by Ricky Martin though.

Hear Air influence in Wednesday One and Two. Also riff in I Might Be Wrong by Radiohead similar to bass on BCWYWF.

Holy Mountain wasn't inspired by Ricky Martin though. Ok inspired was probably the wrong word but you know what I mean.

Holy Mountain wasn't inspired by Ricky Martin though. Yeah, I can't believe how many people think it sounds like "She Bangs". I thought it was just a meme. I definitely hear Ca Plane Pour Moi, but not Ricky Martin at all, and I'm from South America, so I've been hearing the dude's music since childhood.

There's a two word phrasing which coincidentally sounds like a two word phrasing from a Ricky Martin song. That's all it is.

I can't believe how many people like to pretend that they don't hear it. Haha i know. It's very clear. Also, there's the obvious "Start Me Up" rip off melody in B&WS. As others have pointed out, the interlude has strong similarities Reverend and the Makers - The Beach And The Sea. If Love Is The Law has a strong Phil Spector wall of sound influence in the music. Very similar to some of the music on "A Christmas Gift for You from Phil Spector". The drum beat is rather Motown influenced too. Obviously it's going for that vibe. The Kanye West - Power influence on Fort Knox has already been spoken about by Noel

if people think the ricky martin similarity goes beyond the repeating of 'she' and can 'hear' the same tune, then theyre tone deaf... the intro to B&WS reminds of me a 70s riff, but i cant place the song just yet.

The interludes sound a LOT like something from Dangermouse's 'Rome' album

The Man Who Built The Moon sounds a bit like Pictures of Matchstick Men by Status Quo in places, but not as much as Scorpio Rising obviously.
