shockwave - the verses and the bridge are as mediocre as it gets. the chorus is okay-ish. 6.5one of us - i like it. one of his best on the album! 8.25once - it's pure cringe. the lyrics are awful. it's the fwiw of the album. 5.5now that i've found you - good one! the melody in the verses is lovely. 8.0halo - it's a bit annoying and too long. 5.5why me? why not. - the verses, which are clearly liam's input, are fucking boring. the chorus saves it. it's not enough to give it a 7 though. 6.9be still - has a bit of a "doesn't have to be that way" vibe, which is good. i like it! 8.0alright now - fuck me, the verses, the synthie (? solo and the bridge are so john lennon! funnily enough, i fancy the song. it's lovely. 8.0meadow - i don't know, liam has worse songs, but also better ones. it doesn't do a lot to . it's a bit forgettable. 6.0the river - shockwave part 2, just more boring. it has "skip!" written all over it. 5.75gone - the melody is not there, but it's still in the okay-ish range. the talking part is a bit weird. 6.75invisible sun - i'm undecided. it could be a boring stone roses song. it's not liam's worst, definitely. 6.75misunderstood - it doesn't hurt, it's not cringy enough to hate it. it's meadow part 2. 6.25glimmer - another "i'm not gonna hurt you" song. well, yeah, what can i say? 6.75all in all, it's a good step away from the abysmal as you were. Have you ever considered stopping listening to music? cause you clearly don't like it very much... Sorry, is just how I see it!! i can sense a butthurt little fanboi.

I can't believe how good Gone is. It's like a son of TMWBTM and Peaky Blinders. So big, so triumphant. Amazing.

Very underwhelming. Can't see myself going back to it in a hurry.
It's alright, it just feels so...I dunno. Underwhelming is the only word I can use to describe it. I feel like I've heard this album a thousand times before and I've only listened to it twice.
I'm glad everyone is buzzing off it and having a good time with it but, nah. Not for me.

Fun fact: The only new song on the album with lyrics on iTunes so far is NTIFY. Next single?

Having my forst listen this morning. Currently on Alright Now. Very strong first 4 tracks, but then we get to Halo which will not be getting a replay anytime soon.
Outside of the singles which were already listened to many times, the only track standing out for me (of the first 8 tracks on the album) is Now That I Found You. Get a Mr Jones Counting Crows vibe off it. Solid overall though.

Forgettable album. He just can't get the hooks going like Noel does. Even with his professional songwriters.
Will listen once more, after I've listened to the Casablanca film score.

Don't understand why he goes so "soft" and poppy while talking about him being so rock n roll.
Give me some more of that Shockwave-vibe but even grittier and more attitude and garage rock. With Noel filling up the space of "harmless rock/pop for the middle aged couple while them making supper" there is a void to be filled with a rawer, more Definitely Maybe sound.
This sounds very record company-made. A bit lame and strive to be nice and radio friendly.

It must be the record label setting up some rules for how they want the album as it's very Sainsbury's friendly hence all the Take That and Bryan Adams similarities. The only song with balls on the album is Invisible Sun.

This sounds very record company-made. A bit lame and strive to be nice and radio friendly. He's 46. He's a multi-millionaire and his career/family life is in a great place. What's he not to be happy about? Shockwave is the most manufactured, 'pop' song on the ablum because it's completely fake. The highlights - NTIFY, Halo etc - are the ones that reflect where Liam's at right now. And Liam's in a great place. You want anger and aggression? Go and listen to grime, or that Slowthai fella or Idles (which for me is just a load of shouting but each to their own). Liam's got fuck all to say, let's be honest. So I'd rather see him push his boundaries a bit and do uplifting songs (and the songs off DM were uplifting and had the aggression/passion of youth at the same time which is what made them incredible and stand the test of time), than pretending to be fucking angry about something (usually a break up which happened 10 years ago).

As Noel said about Holy Mountain, that's hard to do.

Halo, NTIFY and Holy Mountain are as harmless as they come. Thing is, I don't really care about attitude and swagger from them anymore tbh. They're middle-aged men. They've both grown up. Liam will always have that swagger and Noel will always have his humour / cocksure attitude. But if we want attitude and swagger - then we shouldn't be wanting it from two middle-aged blokes.

Happy Liam = Happy Album = Happy me FANTASTIC ALBUM I've been very criticial of the singles (2/4 anyway). Shockwave and Once are still poor songs compared to what they try to be imo. And it's definitely not a perfect album. But there's 4-5 real gems on there and that's good enough for me. Like you said - Liam's happy. And the best songs on it reflect that.

I never said he had to be angry?
