So I've listened to the record at the fullest like 5-6 times already so I think I'm ready for a review. This could change with some time but I'm feeling confident with my opinnion now. After AYW I thought that songs like It Doesn't Have To Be That Way or Chinatown a little path was given for him as an artist. Doing traditional songs but in a different way. And I'm not talking about production. I'm talking about songwriting and delivering a song of others. I've already seen a couple reviews that mention that Liam's has done more in this record than he gets recognition for. And I do believe it. So many tracks of this album have his identity all over it. If you listen closely to some chord changes and some melodies, you can tell it's Liam with a little push. But IT IS Liam. And we all should be thankfull for that. Shockwave didn't grab me the first time I heard it. I think its an alright single but an average song. Really generic. But that doesn't mean is a bad choice. When you play the album and that guitar kicks in your already in the GIMME MOAR mood. I guess I didn't pay the attention it deserved because I was expecting a Wall Of Glass 2.0 honestly. There's a really subtle guitar solo in the last chorus that gives a little bit more of identity. Solid opener and solid single but still generic traditional rock. Whoever came to a Liam Gallagher expecting to hear something trascendental might be wrong. But this record is a step further and a step closer to that point. Shockwave is a 7/10 for me. Then comes One Of Us. It is a right single choice and now that Shockwave set the mood, this song wraps you in. My friends don't like Oasis at all but this song grabbed their ears. That's how fresh it is. The nostalgic chorus and the little guitar bits toward the end of the song plus the beautiful instrumentation make me give it an 8/10 Once is a song that divides me. On one side I believe that Once's chorus is the best melody Liam has ever wrote. It grabs you on the first listen and is actually touching. Heartfelt. But the other side of me thinks is a wasted opportunity. Because of the bridge. The bridge doesn't go anywhere and it just doesn't match the song. Yes, I apreciate the Magical Mystery Tour production but the ONCEONCEONCEONCEOnceonceonce... bit absolutely ruins the mood. Lucky me that the final chorus kicks in and it's beautifully done enough to drag you in again. An 8'5/10. Now That I've Found You is the song that is dividing us all. Yes,it's poppy as fuck. But he's not trying too hard and sometimes you have to apreciate this type of song. Without pop, there is no pop-rock. He's been rocking out songs for almost 30 years now. Sometimes it's better to listen to an easy-ear-grabbing tune that without trying gets you in a good mood full of joy than trying to search the deepest composition that an artist like Liam can write. Its just a great song to be honest. 8/10 Halo appears when things are not too heavy to redefine what Be Here Now could've been and what Beady Eye SHOULD have been. This has a clear direction and a brilliant production. When the flute/whisper bit ends and the piano kicks in again with the drums hits you in the face, you know this is a keeper. It's the huge classic rock and roll type of tune that I've always dreamed of Liam delivering this well. Definitely an 8/10. Why Me Why Not. Well, the song that gives title to the record makes you feel glad you came around. It can't be more solid than this. The 6th song on the record and I was blown away already. That Lennon progression with the strings is something we've heard Liam do soooo many times but never done in this way. How could he sell us The River as the heavier track? What a smart move. The chorus minus the falsetto is a bit of a let down. But the message is so strong that the production makes the song so big that you just can't deny the brilliance of this track. Another 8/10. Be Still is the first kinda meh song on the record for me. Don't get me wrong, the chorus is absolutely great and those raw guitars make you feel invested. But the production chooses to do It Doesn't Have To Be That Way again. Mixed with the Come Back To Me feel. It's generic and doesn't sound fresh at all to be honest. Catchy song that will probably stay in the album when time pass. 6/10 Alright Now is a gem. I'm 100% sure some of you will see it as the filler. But give it some time and let the song involve you. The melodies, the chord changes, the guitar solo and the ending is a pack that can't be skipped. The production is an example of how right they have done things here. The lyrics make you smile and specially the Broadway bit. An 8'5 and a stand-out for me. Meadow is again another generic and bland song. Is something we've been listening for decades. Not fresh at all and the production choices are most likely the most boring of the entire record. BUT. The ending man. What an ending. Read a review that said that feels like a spaceship landing. An oh shit they were right. Listen to this on headphones and the way the synthesizers go off and on. It pays off and it makes you wonder if there's a single song on the record that doesn't earn your attention. Even the worst song on the record has details that makes you come back. That's how good things are delivered here. But the verse and the chorus are so flat that I have to give it a 5/10 The River kicks in in the perfect time. At this point I was starting to think that I needed adrenaline again and The River couldn't be in a better spot for me. The lyrics can feel a bit out of place but the bridge of the song is one of Liams more swagger delivered lines. Yes,I mean the 'Lick your lips' part. Its just powerful. But honestly I don't get why they released it. I know it wasn't a single as a type but it would've been a nice surprise and I would say that I would've loved it more if it was the first time I heard it. Just because of the place of the record that it's in. 7/10 Gone finishes things off in a great way. It's the most cinematic song Liam has ever done and it gets things done really nicely. This song proves that musically speaking, this album is a couple steps forward for Liam as an artist. The spoken word bit fits perfectly and the strings in the ending make me feel satisfied, something that didn't happen on As You Were. When I first listened to that record I thought that I wanted more. And in a good way I guess. But I prefer to feel satisfied of course. The chorus is something that nobody else could wear like Liam. It's something unique. And it makes a summary of what the record vibe is. Is not trying hard, its not doing a different genre or a conceptual album. It's just a step forward and it flows on so naturally. 8'5/10 That's how I felt the entire thing. Natural. Cohesive. Solid. And it doesn't leave you wanting more. It leaves you excited for the things that are yet to come in Liams career. The third album is the litmus test for every artist. Is where things get serious and where the choices matter. And I can tell Liam and his army know really well what they're doing and how they want to do it. Guitar solos on almost every song, voice clear as the water and every single song has something to offer. The variation on this album is mezmerazing. And not only for Oasis fans, this album has something to give for every classic rock music listener. When a creative direction is clear, the rest speaks by itself. Why Me? Why Not is the most solid 8/10 I've ever think a Gallagher record would be. What an excellent review. Great job. Thank you so much mate, I appreciate it!

Had another listen, just don’t think it’s that good of an album, will go with 5/10, Gone the highlight. I sense that people are starting to post more average reviews now after initial buzz.

Time for an early review...
Shockwave ~ This is “Wall of Glass” 2.0 but just short of it. It’s the obvious choice for a lead single and just like “Wall of Glass” isn’t quite up there with the quality of Oasis’ lead off singles. ~ 5/10
One of Us ~ It has grown on me. The video, which is directed beautifully definitely helps. I love the grooving bass-line and the Strings towards the end are nice. Let it be the last olive branch to Noel because it’s getting pretty old. ~ 5/10
Once ~ Beautiful melody, I can’t deny that. I haven’t overplayed it either. I’ve listened to this maybe 10 times since it was released. It’s one of those songs that transcends and could be liked by pretty much anyone. It think it’s better than “For What It’s Worth” and Liam himself is certainly more comfortable with it. ~ 8/10
Now That I’ve Found You ~ As soon as the melody kicked in on my first listen I automatically thought of “Accidentally In Love” by Counting Crows. It’s exactly the same vibe but not as good. Nice pop tune that doesn’t offend me one bit but it won’t get any better with repeated listens ~ 5/10
Halo ~ Not great to be honest. It’s basically that song “In The Garden Of Eden” by Iron Butterfly. One of the weakest cuts for sure although I do like the whistles in there and the repeats of “round the sun” towards end of the song. ~ 4/10
Why Me? Why Not ~ The verses aren’t very strong melodically but it’s saved by the chorus which has a great hook. The strings are a lovely touch here again although I’m not a lover of that generic guitar solo ~ 7/10
Be Still ~ We’re back In mediocre territory here. It’s bland complete with generic guitar riff and lyrics. Should’ve been cut. ~ 3/10
Alright Now ~ Wow. This is breath of fresh air. Beautiful playing by the band. The drums and bass punctuate the song throughout. It’s just so playful, and Liam’s vocal is chilled and soothing. The guitar solo has almost exactly the same sound as the solo in “Easy” by The Commodores. I just love this. A highlight ~ 8/10
Meadow ~ As mentioned it has a strong George Harrison feel. Also I think the production style here has been heavily inspired by Jeff Lynne’s work on “Free as a Bird.” It’s a little dull but has grown me a bit. ~ 5/10
The River ~ Never really cared for this. It feels like an exercise in production to hide the lack of a song. It sounds like Kasabian featuring Ian Brown, which just bores me to death. ~ 3/10
Gone ~ This is very good. It reminds me of the band Dropkick Murphys and I haven’t quite managed to put my finger on why yet... anyway it’s another highlight. It’s got a ‘punch the air’ quality about it. The best use of the strings on the whole album. Oh yeah and that spoken word bit works but it shouldn’t. ~ 8/10
Invisible Sun ~ The mid nineties Stone Roses. Liam sounds more like Ian Brown on this album than he ever has. I really like the verses up until the bridge which just feels a little awkward. Overall it’s okay and I’ll give it a pass as it’s a only bonus track. 4/10
Misunderstood ~ We’re back in generic-ville. It sounds good, I’ll give that. But ultimately it’s boring. It belongs we’re it is as a bonus track ~ 3/10
Glimmer ~ A fantastic little infectious pop song. This should’ve replaced a track on the album proper. It sounds like a better version of Beady Eye’s “Millionaire”. I liked it instantly and so did my 3 year old daughter who just adores it. Could’ve been a nice second single instead of “The River” ~ 7/10
Overall I’m impressed by this record. Nice follow up to “As You Were” a step in the right direction but he needs to take a few more chances on the next album.
