fort knox: it's too long, though some of the "effects" in it are pretty awesome. 6/10
holy mountain: i like it! happy go lucky song. 8/10
keep on reaching: not sold on this one, heard worse. 6,5/10
it's a beautiful world: love the production. and the chorus is infectious. 8/10
she taught me how to fly: great song, a lot is going on in it. love it! 9/10
be careful what you ask for: i don't know about this one yet... 6,5/10
black & white sunshine: again, not a 100% sold. might grow on me. 6,5/10
interlude (wednesday pt. 1)/end credits (wednesday pt. 2): great stuff! i'm just wondering if noel himself played the picking parts... 8/10
if love is the law: lovely folk song! 8,5/10
the man who built the moon: could have been a james bond theme. it's been growing on me since the first time i've listen to it in the morning from a 7,5 to a 8,5/10
dead in the water: in the beginning i thought it would be another noel acoustic by numbers/3rd fret capo song, which in a ways it is, but it's also been growing heavily on me during the day. absolutely lovely! 8,75/10
god help us all: not a lot has changed from the soundchecks. i like how strong noel's voice sounds in it. 7/10

I thought I may as well justify my 8...
Fort Knox - 7. Bit long but great opener.
Holy Mountain - 8. Sounds bugger all like Ricky Martin. It's great and will be a real dancer when he tours next year.
Keep on Reaching - 7. Same sort of drive as a lot of Beady Eye tunes (yeah, I went there) but enough about it to be better. Good horns and good feel but not the best tune.
Beautiful World - 9. Love it. It's everything I've liked about Noel's music that he never realised with Oasis bar Falling Down. Reminds me of his collaborations with the Chemical Brothers.
She Taught Me How To Fly - 8. After a few more listens today, I've really started to like this one. It's reasonably basic but chugs along at a frantic pace that makes it hugely enjoyable.
Be Careful What You Ask For - 7. Nice groove but doesn't really go anywhere. But I like groovy stuff - it sounds like it could have been on Dig Out Your Soul, which I loved until track 8.
Black and White Sunshine - 7. Sounds a bit too much like stuff we've heard too many times before, albeit it the usual big chords have been replaced by Neil Young-esque picking. Not bad but not outstanding and easy to see why some people think it's the best - because it's the most Oasisy song on here.
Interludes - Both get an 8. It's Noel doing post rock instrumentals. Sounds like Mogwai which is great because I love Mogwai.
If Love is the Law - 9. Noel channels Father John Misty and Arcade Fire - two of my favourite artists of the last ten years. Sounds like it could be a Christmas song. Lovely stuff.
The Man Who Built the Moon - 10. In my opinion the best song Noel's released as a solo artist. It could be a theme tune to a western and sounds like the best Arctic Monkeys song (or even Last Shadow Puppets) that they haven't written. This is exactly the sort of music that I want to hear in the winter of 2017 - dark, trippy and soaring.
Dead in the Water - 9. Some say it's Noel by numbers but it's genuinely beautiful. My favourite band other than Oasis is the National and I can just see Matt Berninger singing this. But I wouldn't want Noel to write a whole album of these types of tunes, when he's got a lot more in his cannon that's worth hearing.

Where's the 'Don't know, don't care'- button? I just can't stand this type of music. What was Noel thinking with this one?

I'm rating this one a possible 9. After many listens it has become apparent there is just one duff track - Be Careful What You Ask For, which I really do not like at all, and 2 pleasant fillers that don't really go anywhere - the interlude instrumentals.
But the rest is as catchy as fuck, and the best collection of songs Noel has done since 1997. The flow of the album really works.

I understand the cohesive whole can be greater than the sum of its parts but a high 6 jumping to a possible 9 is pretty out there 🤔 This is my thoughts after giving the album a repeated listen today. I could change my mind after more listens. I wish there had been more faster tracks like Holy Mountain. Overall, a great album, but it is becoming apparent the instrumentals replacing normal songs is leaving me feeling short changed. Fort Knox - 6/10 - Good opener but I can see myself skipping this one. Holy Mountain - 9/10 - still one of the best tracks on the album. I loved it when I first heard it, and my opinion hasn't changed over time. Maybe I like it even more now in context of the album itself. Keep on Reachin' - 5/10 - Not overly keen on this one It's a Beautiful World 7/10 - I like it, but I don't love it She Taught To Me How To Fly - 9/10 - another standout track for me. Upbeat, happy, summer. Be Careful What You Wish For - 3/10 - weakest song on the album. Sounds like we are back in DOYS territory Black & White Sunshine - 8/10 - upbeat, happy track. Another great one. Interlude - 5/10 - ok, but pointless If Love is the Law - 8/10 - another great upbeat track. Could go up a point on repeat listens The Man Who Built The Moon - 8/10 - solid, big tune. DYKWIM meets Gas Panic, but actually much better End credit - 6/10 - ok, but again pointless Dead in the Water 7/10 - we are back in strong B side territory with this one, but more B side from Oasis Mk2 era. Good song.

Good song. That was written on my first couple of listens. Since then it has grown on me massively. I cannot stop listening to it. I've re-edited my review now, so let me know what my new average rating will be. If I had to do a review of each song on WTS and DM, I don't think the average would come out very high, because there are quite a few songs on there that I really don't like, and after BHN they are my favourite albums. Only BHN would probably average out at a 9.

Listening to it last night on big speakers, it really is incredible. Fort Knox is just unreal. I can say with some confidence that if you rate this record anything less than a 7.5/10, then we must have pretty different taste. So happy with Noel.

I only have two issues with the album:
1. The two interludes are too close together and too similar. 2. End Credits doesn't actually sound like the end of anything. There's no proper closing track. The interludes would probably have been better coming in at track 4 and track 11 with TMHBTM as the closing track.
Saying that I think Dead in the Water DOES actually fit the album as a final closing track. It's Noel strumming a guitar on his own at 4 in the morning after the party.

I agree about the interludes, though, I've moved that to after STMHTF and renamed it "Intermission" to fit the film theme.

I only have two issues with the album: 1. The two interludes are too close together and too similar. After listening to the full thing once or twice I moved 'Wednesday, Part 01' to track no.6 to break / differentiate the two sides, it seems so obvious and parallels the use of Swamp Song in the middle of the Morning Glory album, both instrumental parts at the halfway point of their respective LPs.

Well seeing as Dead in the Water is included in many places in the standard edition of the album, I think we can consider it now the closing track

here I go... ready to be smashed....
Fort Knox 3/10. So noel put there the fucking plane he stole from DYKWIM? Sounds like a random Moby song. Holy Mountain 2/10. She bangs, she bangs, and a shamless rip off from a french group. Keep on Reaching 3/10 The intro of it could work as a sound track for a stage in a Sonic The hedgehog videogame. Its a beatiful world 5/10 in my opinion this sounds a little like U2. Not my style but as a song is not bad. She taught me how to fly 6/10 little to say here, I hear some little similitudes with RHCP "cant stop", but probably is just me. Be careful what you wish for 4/10 I feel like it is half finished. It might work for a streep tease scene in a B movie. Black and White 5/10 random song, good chorus, could ve made it into DOYS Interlude 1/10 this would be ideal for a soft core porn film scene. If love is the... 5/10 its kind of nice, but I can hear Hindu Times here mixed with mucky fingers. The Man who build the moon 8/10 this is a great song. End Credits 1/10 this is the kind of music I would expect from a Sim City computer game of the 90s while Im modeling the land scape before really playing. Dead in the Water 4/10 shitty sad song mixed with shitty Coldplay.
A 4/10 album for me... but since Im must addmit that Im a little upset with noel in the last months since some of his commentaries, and been having some liam bias, I guess I would give each song 1 or 2 additional points in normal circunstances.

My least favorite of the Noel albums, though it may grow on me. The production is just odd (not in a good way), and ultimately, the songs just aren't there. Everything seems a bit unfinished/incomplete. 5/10.

Simcity was great, I played the shit out of it in the '90s and I'm pretty sure the soundtrack didn't sound anything like Wednesday part 2. Also, maybe The Escapist can suggest a scene which fits well with Interlude I love both the Wednesday tracks by the way. They sound like some lost early-70s European movie score. Great stuff, although I can understand why some people think they're pretty useless on the record.

Now I have been listening to the album for a few days, I think I have a stable opinion about it. It's a 8.5 or 9/10 for me (voted 9/10). It's so fresh and inspired. Best album since BHN for me followed closely only by CY, which I also love although it's not so exciting and uplifting
I only sometimes skip the interludes not because I don't like them but because when they start Love is the Law and Dead on Water are only one click of the skip button away and I can't wait
Very difficult to choose the song highlights: HM and Keep on reaching cheer me up every time they sound, I love the melancholy of IABW and STHTF is better in the studio version, Love is the law has a great melody...but I I had to choose I would probably go with WBTM and Dead on Water.

After laughing my ass off, I do see what he's saying. It's especially SimCity 2000. All the different music from that game is flooding back to me and there are some SIMilarities.

8-9/10 right now, mostly because the highs are so damn high. Fort Knox - 8/10. It gets a little repetitive in the middle, but the intro and the final minute are gorgeous. Holy Mountain - 9/10. Loved that one right away, still do. Keep On Reaching - 6/10. Reminds me of songs Liam writes ironically. A little too much vibe, too little melody. Beautiful World - 8/10. It starts slow, but the chorus is catchy as all hell and it sounds great. She Taught Me How To Fly - 8/10. Feel-good song, catchy, love the riff. Be Careful What You Wish For - 6/10. Like Keep on Reaching, it just lacks a certain punch to me. Black & White Sunshine - 10/10. Most people don't seem to care much about this one, but it's my favorite post-Oasis track right now. Beautiful riff, amazing chorus, love the strings too. Interlude - 7/10. Nice enough but nothing special. If Love Is The Law - 8/10. Love the christmas-y vibes! The Man Who Built the Moon - 9/10. Brillant stuff, great atmosphere, grand. End Credits - 6/10. Could have done without it, fits the flow though. Dead in the Water - 8/10. Up there with Noel's best post-Oasis ballads.
