I'm really disappointed that this hasn't leaked yet.

The impression I had listening to the whole album by Liam was that it was tad monotonous and not varied in musical ideas. This one doesn't seem so 'catchy' and will take a few attempts to be fully discovered. Much more mature and a nice departure from the well known paths.

Preferred Black & White Sunshine, can't say I loved either on first listen, but I was on my earbuds so will need to listen proper.
I feel like the Holy Mountain fans will love the energy in B&WS.
As of now, the 10 seconds of TMWBTM is my favourite sounding piece so far. Favourite full song heard is IABW followed by FK. At this point, bring on the album, I want to hear the whole thing start to finish.

Completely unimpressed. This cycle, Noel seems unwilling to write a chorus that doesn't just repeat the same melody line over and over again. The setup is strong in BAWS....there's just no payoff. I'm exactly the same, they aren't bad songs and the different instrumentation and the production on the album is welcome but they just leave me a bit cold to be honest.

Be Careful What You Wish For is the kind of song that will rise and fall on the production quality of the album version. Noel goes a bit flat on the chorus so I hoping that's corrected and is less grating. Sounds very promising however

Ya, if I were to compare the two so far, AYW has the far stronger melodies and is catchier, while WBTM is better and deeper musically. Musically, that was expected. TBH from what I've heard, I have slight concerns about the melodic nature of WBTM... Very few if any of the songs have hooked me in, which may have sort have been the point/idea with the Holmes approach. We will see. But again, I think this will be a more "album experience" rather than "cherry picking songs you are in the mood for" type album.

If the three live songs we get aren't ruined by the production in some way, this is pretty much already my favourite Gallagher album since Be Here Now.
Fort Knox Holy Mountain Beautiful World She Taught Me How to Fly Be Careful What You Wish For Black & White Sunshine
...A more varied, bold, and rich selection of tracks than Noel has ever given us. The melodies are as strong as ever, they're just not necessarily in the vocals!
Come on Holmes, Keep on Reaching, Wednesday, If Love is the Law, The Man Who Built the Moon...don't let me down.

I got to be honest, I'm not really into hearing the live versions of songs before the album version. Maybe it's just me, but Noel's vocals have been a bit flat on all the performances and I think this type of album (with so many layers of sound) may not translate immediately into a live setting. I think I'm alone here, but I vastly prefer the album versions of HM and Beautiful World to the live versions.

Yeah probably best not to compare them, you give to much opportunity to people like batfink30 and SheSaidHerNameWasDot.

Not even Be Careful What You Wish For? I seem to recall you really liked the Right Stuff, both songs seem to share a similar mood/structure so I thought you might like the new one as well.

Didn't begin listening until the middle of BCWYWF. Wasn't a big fan of it. Finally heard it from the beginning, and I love it. Hoping the album version lives up to the live.

I got to hear the album about 2 weeks ago, but it was during conversation during a meeting about something, so i wasn't able to concentrate too much but i also said on here there was nothing that made my ears prick up or grabbed me on the first listen. The most "instant" song was probably Holy Mountain, which is obviously why it was picked as a first single, and even that one has divided opinion I really just think it sounds like exactly what it is... Noel writing in a studio and the songs being written because they have to be, not born out of inspiration like when songs almost write themselves. He sounds out of ideas on this album when it comes to the core songwriting. Like he's trying to shoehorn some sort of song into the music they have made. It might be a "grower", but really, i think that usually means it's not THAT good but if you hear it enough then it feels familiar. Any real great album, you recognise the true quality straight away, even if it's not full of instant songs. WBTM is just all a bit underwhelming and lacking any real substance.

If there are concerns about a Noel Gallagher album from a melodic standpoint then I think we should be all gravely worried about that album. If there's no great melodies, what are we listening for? Brilliant lyrics? His voice? Cutting edge ideas? I think the melodic experience will vary for everyone. I'm the type who likes a catchy roller coaster type song with ups and downs and a soaring chorus. So far WBTM hasn't quite delivered that for me (its still way too early). But that's fine. I am appreciating the depth of the sound, the production and the different path he's taken. Bring on the rest.
