I would say:
1. (What's the Story) Morning Glory? 2. Definitely Maybe
3. Don't Believe the Truth 4. Dig Out Your Soul 5. Be Here Now 6. Heathen Chemistry 7. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants

Essentially, public opinion in the UK boils down to: Genuinely great first two albums, everything else is bullshit and irrelevant.
Okay, Be Here Now is in the public consciousness and opinions are extremely varied on it (as opposed to this form where there is a general consensus that it is a very good, if not great, album), but everything after is essentially irrelevant it doesn't bear worth thinking about. Mention one of the albums after 1997 on the street would only be met with a face of bewilderment.

I reckon that even some people you could ask on the street don´t even know the name of the latter albums. They might know a tune or two, but more than that is wishful thinking.

Yep, talk to the public about it and it's basically a ranking of: Morning Glory (has the populist appeal) Definitely Maybe ----- Be Here Now ----- WTF? -----

1. WTSMG 2. DM 3. "The one with SCYHO" 4. "The Lyla one" 5. "Oh, are there any others?" This is very accurate. Also, when I mention I'm going to see one of Liam or Noel, I get a blank stare. I then say "one of the guys who used to be in Oasis, they are solo now." Then I get "Oh ya, Oasis. Didn't know their guys went solo, didn't know they were still around at all."

Lyla and The Importance of Being Idle both went number 1 and were played loads back in 2005. I remember being at school and people talking about Oasis again.

WTSMG DM HC DBTT BHN DOYS SOTSOG
For some reason there's this common opinion that SOTSOG was utter shit and HC was a comeback for the band.

Like:MG DM Indifferent:DBTT HC DOYS Hate:BHN SOTSOG I don't think there is that much hate for BHN. AATW and SBM were popular singles when they were released.

Its only this forum where ive seen HC blasted like it is. No oasis fan i know hates it at all.
In response to this thread, HC had 4 singles that would get on any Oasis album imo. Coming off the back of an album like SOTSOG which basically had 1 passable single was a huge comeback in the public eye. Fuck what you think about the album as a whole.
Oasis are a singles band that really on those big anthems in the public consciousness. SOTSOG didnt have that, HC did.
DBTT was the ressuragnce of Oasis. They were the kingpins at a great time for Indie music and while the new bands like arctic monkeys and Libertines got going, Oasis released an album that stood alongside as a reminder of the reason they all got into music.

Yeah hate is the wrong word, I think BHN has been something to take the mick out of the band over the years, not helped by Noel himself, but when it got its rerelease it actually got a lot of 'it's a pretty decent album really'. The Masterplan album gets as much love as the first two records. I think SOTSOG and DOYS are the only ones that the general public don't have much time for.

The causal fan loves HC, the mind boggles.
People like Heathen Chemistry, and voted for the Nazis. You can’t trust people.
