Not sure how famous this "incident" was, since I couldn't find a single article/news page about it. Personally I found this story to be quite hilarious and amazing, since I love both Liam and Alex. But apparently Liam had a bar brawl with Hurricane #1's vocalist Alex Lowe, in which Andy Bell (Who was in Hurricane #1 at that time) and Alan White were present. This happened sometime in 1997(?). Liam and his bodyguard were beaten, since Alex was a former boxer with an amateur background. I discovered this video of Alex talking with the Japanese band The Mayflowers about the incident.
For those of you who don't know, Hurricane #1 was Andy Bell's former band. They had some fairly good tunes, my favorite being "Step Into My World". They'll be releasing a new record and will be on tour sometime this year or next year. Alex reformed the band in 2014 after beating cancer, making a full-on comeback.

Funny story. Actually this Alex guy seems quite cool. If the story is true, It just reinforces my opinion that Liam can be such a bellend sometimes.

Alex Lowe was the singer of Hurricane #1. I really loved (and I still do) their "Step Into My World" album. Andy Bell has put his great guitar work into this album. I also liked Alex's solo album. I think people only saw him as Liam wannabee which was a shame. Back in 2005 before DBTT was released, some people thought "Step Into My World" (single) was a new Oasis song . There was even a thread on this forum. Good times.

Ironic for someone who has basically just spent his whole career trying to look like liam, and failed.
Nice bum chin btw.

The new album they (well, it's really just Alex but he likes to say it's Hurricane #1) released last year was actually ok. The two singles he has released in the past weeks are much better though. This maybe somewhat explains why Alex has been tweeting Liam quite a few times in the past weeks (Liam has never responded). Maybe he feels bad for beating him? On a side note, Hurricane #1 were an amazing band in their first incarnation, both records are very good, and yes they were an attempt by Alan McGee to create a new Oasis, but they did have some cracking tunes. This new incarnation is not as good but still fair play to Alex. Andy has given his blessing though (seeing as he wrote 95% of the songs before).

Not helped tbh by messrs Andy Bell and especially Alan McGee trying to create essentially another Oasis by building a band around a "powerhouse guitarist" to quote directly from the Hurricane #1 Anthology sleeve notes. Their career didn't pan out too well overall although they genuinely sold records in Japan IIRC (as opposed to the usual record company hyperbole of "being big in Japan"), but were seriously derailed by the infamous 'The Sun' advert which Andy agreed to under pressure from Creation and Ricochet Management with the release of a third album hanging in the balance which unfortunately for Bell after all that did not come to pass due to writer's block in his own words.

I really love Andy's guitar work in these songs. It's brilliant.

I really love Andy's guitar work in these songs. It's brilliant. I've always liked Rising Sign and The Price That We Pay acoustic as the b-side. Great tunes.

Only The Strongest is a wonderful song. It wasn’t a hit first time out but then The Scum used it in an advertising campaign and it took off. Liam was definitely a musical influence on Alex, just like he was with Tellin’ Stories era Tim Burgess IMO. All great voices.
