Leeds United striker Alan Smith has given the clearest hint yet that he will not be at Elland Road next season.
Until recently fans favourite Smith insisted that he would never leave Leeds, but with relegation a strong possibility he now realises he may be given no choice in the matter.
Addressing a fans' dinner on Monday the 23-year-old indicated that he was approaching the end of his time with the Whites.
"Your support for me has been brilliant and that is what makes it hard," he said.
"I would love to score goals for Leeds United in the years ahead, but it is a difficult time for everybody.
"I hope everyone understands if I have to leave. While I am here I will always give 100 per cent. Everyone knows that."

if you havent heard already - Smith and Leeds have confirmed he will definitely be sold during the summer, along with Viduka
Middlesbrough are reportedly bidding for both players, along with half the premiership probably..
Goalkeeper Paul Robinson is expected to join Spurs for £2-3 million
will be fun to see who Chelsea go for this summer
what do you guys reckon? another £100 million? £150 million... who knows!

dyou reckon the beckham/ronaldo to chelsea rumors have any truth? i think theres def truth behind them but whether or not both transfers come off is a different thing. Beckham will move for family reasons imo. I thought he'd spend 2 years in spain before coming back to england but now it looks like he'll be back this year. They'd have to pay £100 million for Ronaldo, and i think they would and that Madrid would let him go. Only questions would be whether the incoming Chelsea manage wants him (although who wouldnt want the best striker in the world?) and if Ronaldo himself wants to move. If Chelsea are smart they'll realise that they already have an excellent team and that they only need 2 or 3 more world class players to complete it. they dont need to bring in 10 new players and disrupt everything. Ronaldo, Beckham, Robben and Samuel - if they get those 4, they'd have to be favorites for the premiership and champions league

He's got nothing on henry imo.

Nobody is as good as Henry in the world at the moment his overall game and workrate would take some matching. Ronaldo is a proven goalscorer though and if you want someone to score 24 goals or more a season then the 20 plus million for Ronaldo is a bargin.
They say Beckham and Ronaldo to chelsea is a done deal, Beckham is going to play in London and Ronaldo wants to follow. Chelsea will sell a few of their players but will probably spend about 80 Million easily!
With Leeds going down I can see their squad being picked appart. Robinson will probably goto Spurs, Smith is going to Newcastle and Liverpool or Man U will probably get Viduka.
What do you reckon Leeds future holds Matt? I can't see them coming back up straight away, but do you think they'll have a good enough squad to lift the division one title?

you really think ronaldo is the best player in the world? He's got nothing on henry imo. no i don't think Ronaldo is the best player in the world. i think Henry is undisputedly the best forward around at the moment. But Henry is not the best goalscorer i used the word striker to describe Ronaldo because i think (and many people would agree) that when it comes to putting the ball in the back of the net, there is no one better than Ronaldo. Even now when he's fat and unfit he still has an awesome goals per game ratio! In his prime he is like no other. he is awesome But Henry is probably the best all-round player i've ever seen. Ideally, you'd want him and Ronaldo up front Although purely in terms of goalscoring, i'd take Van Nistelrooy ahead of Henry as well. Van Nistelrooy has a better goals per game ratio since he joined man united and at international level, than Henry has.

the thing about van nistelrooy over henry i would agree with providing your bringing him into a team full of world class players. I think if you have an average team them henry would be better because he can create chances for himself, he is less relyent on his team mates to create his chances. Whereas if you stop the service to van nistelrooy you effectively take him out the game because finishing is his main strength, he's not that good at anything else and wouldnt be able to create chances if you stopped his service.
Yeh Ronaldo is probably a better goal scorer and in about 1998 he would have matched henry in different aspects of the game aswel.
