First I've heard of it. I know he gets annoyed with singing Wonderwall all the time, but that's more than understandable. No one could possibly be tired of Whatever. No one!

Is this just based on the "Thank fuck for that" thing?

Is this just based on the "Thank fuck for that" thing? Nah there's a few times where he's slagged it off/not wanted to sing it. I'm pretty sure he even slags it off at Maine Road? Sure there's a gig in 96 where he just says 'glad you all like it I think it's a looooad of shit"

Yes, he has said more than once he doesn't like it. This might be a good question for oasispodcast tbh...

First I've heard of it. I know he gets annoyed with singing Wonderwall all the time, but that's more than understandable. No one could possibly be tired of Whatever. No one!I think it drags on a bit and I never really have any desire to listen to it. I prefer any other track from their first 2 albums to that one. I think part of why I'm not keen on it is that the studio version almost hurts my ears listening to it in terms of the mix or something. Can't think of the right terminology for it, but it's like having paper torn right next to my ears. Idk if anyone else gets that? Anyway, so yeah, it is possible for a person to dislike Whatever (I know you said "be tired of Whatever", but didn't have much to say re:that, so was easier to just pretend you said 'dislike' and respond to that )

Without Whatever there is no Morning Glory, so there is no Oasis past DM, no Liam, no As You Were (hoho)
Whatever is the bridge between DM and MG sound. Had it failed, Oasis would have had a very different career.
To me it's a classic, it's brillant from the start to finish. And those strings...

Whatever is pop perfection. The last minute might be my favourite musical moment ever.

I like the "here in my mind" bit up to "I know it's no fun" but the rest? Not for me mate.

I like the "here in my mind" bit up to "I know it's no fun" but the rest? Not for me mate. lol that’s the part I hate, whereas everything else is purely fantastic pop.

and yet FWIW sounds a lot like Whatever. The violins at the end always remind me of it

I think he used to get muddled with the lyrics too so probably didn't like singing it as much. I assume he's still using a promoter so all is good. It did sound great the other night.
