Something like Howl by BRMC would be great underrated album! Yeah, superb record and the bsides are equally amazing. I think Noel will someday release an acoutsic based record. Not entirely acoustic, stripped down, but something a bit intimate with strings, drums with brushes sticks and strings. Could be amazing. Maybe when he approaches 60. Right now, he's feeling young again so hat wont happen.

Yes, but not now, I would like to see something like Half The World Away meets the The La's vibe.

Tbh, I'm fine with how it is at the moment - having albums full of tracks with fuller arrangements, accompanied by tonnes of live recordings of which a fair number are purely acoustic.
If Noel ever did an acoustic album of new tracks, I doubt we'd ever hear more fleshed out full band versions of those tracks (only instance of that I can recall right now is the 'electric' version of Talk Tonight). On the other hand, he seems more willing to perform acoustic/semi-acoustic versions of tracks live, resulting in the release of both versions in the process when it happens (which imo is a preferable scenario)

Yeah! I really missed that kind of Better Than Going To Church gig that he performed in a church.

Maybe back in 2001-2004. I always wanted Noel to do a side acoustic album while in Oasis. My dream was booking up with Nigel Godrich to do it. Sorts like Beck and McCartney. Didn’t happen and I’m Now well past acoustic songy Noel. Forwards. +1

Something like Howl by BRMC would be great Less generic acoustic songs similar to 'Sympathetic noose', 'Devil's waitin' or 'Still suspicion holds you tight' would be great to hear from Noel. A dark country/soul vibe.

Can't really give a yes or no answer on this one. Do the songs in the album sound the best in acoustic manner? If it's just something close to demos or was made that way out of laziness then there's no point; same way, difference just for the sake of difference is pointless.

I like the occasional acoustic show, but we've been there before. Nothing is gonna top Oasis Unplugged anyway. I'm very happy with what he's doing now. It may not be the NG we expect, but if he's heaving fun, we'll have fun too.

I'd like to see an acoustic album of rerecorded unfinished songs like Come On Outside or Oh Lord etc. or other stuff that hasn't been used yet. Wouldn't want to see him doing an acoustic album with new songs cos it'd be a bit of a step backwards. Give me a shaky step in a new direction over retreading covered ground.

Lots of good points made on here about Noel's acoustic guitar ability and songwriting. Rockin' Chair has some wonderful acoustic work on it so if he can do that across an album I'd definitely love to hear that. He got Andy to do any complicated acoustic picking work but there's no reason why Noel can't play like that on a record and get someone else to do it live. Maybe if he wants to push himself a little bit he could practise some new skills.
I'd love to hear a Noel acoustic record but like matt says the lyrics need to be his best as all is laid bare - melodically he'll be fine, it's whether he has something interesting to say without talking about "blowing my mind" or something having to "shine" in every song! I'm sure he's got more good lyrics left in him yet though! It's Noel fuckin' Gallagher, let's give him some credit.

I would be insanely excited about an acoustic Noel Gallagher album, and I think his voice and melancholy and even his powerful tones are more suited to stripped back acoustic than anything else.
He's best when his voice is tender, raw, gutsy, it gets the emotions of his songs across.
We know from Supersonic (the movie) Noel doesn't like to show his emotions too much. He's even said in interviews he tries to stop lyrics from being too personal.
I feel like his shift to heavily produced and bells and whistles type instrumentation is the final chapter to this - masking the raw, vulnerable emotion.
Would love to see an acoustic album - forced to write with no other instruments - now that would be an experiment.
It's the Noel Gallagher record the world's been waiting for since he took to stage acoustic in 1998

Nope. I think some of his songs can benefit from being stripped back a bit but not to the point where they're all acoustic. If anything, he's been guilty of making acoustic guitars far too prominent in the mix for many of his later songs - Little By Little, Riverman, Everybody's On The Run being the ones that immediately come to mind.

It's true, Liam has written much better acoustic-based material for a while now. Acoustic-only Noel might be a little boring. That being said...I think stuff like Dying of the Light may have been better as part of an acoustic collection.

Noel and Mike Rowe need to sit their asses down in the RTE studio and just bang out an acoustic record in one take and release it.
Big bonus? Noel saves a lot of $$$ not paying for all of the stodge he loads up on post production and flashy producers.
Go back to what you do best!

Absolutely not. He’s got enough decent acoustic material already and we don’t need any more. I like what he’s doing now and don’t see any point in acoustic ballads any more, when every other singer song writer has seemingly saturated the market with acoustic anthems for girls to sing at festivals. Give me more tunes like The Man Who Built the Moon or It’s a Beautiful World and if I want to listen to Noel do acoustic stuff I’ll stick on Talk Tonight or Sad Song.

Not entirely acoustic no. But i wouldn't mind a a record with a Bacharach feel, no electric guitars, with an orchestra, a great piano player (hello Mike Rowe)... etc Noel will do it someday, no doubt about that. something like that or this hehe

It would probably cure my insomnia, that's for sure.
Dead In The Water almost did that. What a drab boring tune that is.
