Inspired by lubeck 's threads from way back when. Choose any 5! Except Morning Glory, because we all were gonna choose that anyway. 1995 was a great year for music, wasn't it? A serious contender for the best year of the 90's, along with 1991 and 1997. Here's my top 5, in no particular order. The Bends A Northern Soul Post Tilt Maxinquaye

So Radiohead, Pulp, and The Verve are running away with this?
Predictable forum is predictable.

1997 was a much better year for albums. I don't know why exactly, but some of my most loved albums were from that year.

Radiohead - The Bends Leftfield - Leftism Garbage - Garbage Bruce Springsteen - Ghost of Tom Joad The Verve - A Northern Soul
Would have put Bjork - Post above A Northern Soul. Great album, but marred by the fact there's that irritating cover of It's Oh So Quiet.

Sure, it's nothing special when you compare it to the original, and when you consider that the original contains a hella amount of screaming for a pop song released in 1951 (!) that in 1995 sounds less remarkable, but surely at least the video won you over?

Not really to be honest! Never liked the original either so there's a big problem there. I just think it also sticks out like a sore thumb on that album. But, my dislike of it probably lies in childhood - I'd have been about five years old when that song was released, and, courtesy of my sister having a copy of that most seminal act, I had to put up with the fucking Smurfs doing a cover of it on their compilation 'The Smurfs Go Pop'.

This one alone makes Grand Prix a worthy contender, but there's barely any weak songs on it.

Ha, can't say I blame you. I'd be traumatized for life if I had heard any song covered by The Smurfs before the original.

Absolutely shocked that nobody has cast a single vote for PJ Harvey. Pretty sure A Northern Soul doesn't need another vote. There, problem solved!

Reading this list makes me realise how little I know about music. I think I've heard only four of these albums.

Teenage Fanclub - Grand Prix Blur - The Great Escape The Verve - A Northern Soul
Not listed but equally amazing: Morrissey - Southpaw Grammar (I might be the only one in the world to rate that one though) Gene - Olympian (underrated as hell)
