I don't know if anyone pointed it out in another thread but Noel confirmed on Chris Moyles that he is adding a female to the band because the album includes a lot of female vocals.
This gets me excited because I really loved the Chasing Yesterday tracks that had prominent female backing vocals or in the case of the Right Stuff, duet vocals. I hope there is a lot of that on Who Built the Moon.
I also wonder if that means The Right Stuff could be added to the set. I know it was more than the lack of a female that prevented it from being in the set, I think the other was Jeremy Stacey's solo being difficult live.

It'd be great if Let the Lord Shine a Light on Me made a return too. Although that'd be unlikely.

Definitely going to be interesting as to what kind of songs he is going to play. It'd be a bit weird if there's loads of experimental songs with Digsy's Dinner thrown in the middle. Hopefully there are some rarer songs and new interpretations getting an airing. I like the idea of a female vocalist.

Play Setting Sun, Let Forever Be, Teotihuacan, The Hindu Times Demo, The Right Stuff, all of it. Properly fucking kill the idea that he's just a three-chord-wonder.

You spent the whole day arguing in the politics thread so much that I wonder if you've skipped all your classes, called in "sick" for work, forsaken rest altogether, or some bizarre mish-mash of all three, and yet you're still posting on the forum.

I honestly have ridiculous sleeping habits. If I have more than three days off, I'll almost always end up waking up at 10pm.

I'd really love for him to bring back Falling Down. That's separate from female vocalist discussion, but that song so fits the massive out there sound that he's looking for.

Some of the more obscure 'dreamy' tracks like Shout it out loud, Roll it over, Gas panic, Waiting for the rapture (alt version) etc would lend themselves well to a live rearrangement with a female vocalist ala The right stuff

But more to the point he’s added a scissor player, let’s all think about that.

I don't think he'll play it because it's a bit gloomy, but now that he's got two female vocalists he should dig out 'Let the Lord Shine a Light on Me' on the next tour.
Still one of my favorite HFB tracks and incredibly underrated.

He did play it in 2012 though, didn't he? Maybe I'm wrong.
The song I really want to see is The Right Stuff, but I doubt it'll ever happen.

Yes, he did. Tim Smith played a solo which replaced the female vocals, it was pretty cool.

Surprised he's been allowed to do that.

It's unlikely we'll see an 'experimental' show. Not when most people going to the shows are only there for DLBIA, Masterplan, Champagne Supernova etc. No-one's gonna be there for the new tunes, that's for sure.
I would much rather Noel went all-out rarities and experimentation now, but 99.9% of people wouldn't agree.

He could try out some songs with the female singers on lead while on tour. Listening to his voice on Jools, and looking at the back-to-back US gigs in February, he needs another singer.

If Noel really means that, then he should roll the dice and go all in. He can certainly afford to.

I would much rather Noel went all-out rarities and experimentation now, but 99.9% of people wouldn't agree. One of my favorite concert experiences was Natalie Merchant in 2010. She had just released "Leave Your Sleep", a collection of her favorite American poetry set to music. She did a set of selections from the album (it was a double album), ignoring people who called out for her hits. After her first encore, the theater emptied by about 10%. She then came back out and announced "now that the casuals are gone..." and launched into another hour, just singing her hits. I'd love for Noel to do something like that.

She's a really good backing singer. Definitely elevated both STMHTF and Beautiful World.
