Clearly, Holy Mountain.
ITHOTM is such a throw-away track - the lyrics to the first verse are actually good, but the second verse is a throw away, plus the nananas.
Holy Mountain is fucking epic. I'm proper having this!

I'm going to say that ITHOTM is more immediate but I think I'll be listening to Holy Mountain for a longer time, especially the live versions on YouTube.
As you were xx

I'm proper having this! How are the nananas worse to listen to or lazier to write than him just rhyming fell with spell and repeating it feverishly?

Surprised at the flack ITHOTM gets. It's not a top tune, and the nananas are a bit weird (not because they are there, but they are quite whiny for some reason) but they don't turn me off the song. The "And the moooooore that you want it, the more that you need it" part is quite infectious and in a good way.

Heat of the Moment is so tame and beige in comparison. I like Heat, but it's incredibly inoffensive and forgettable.

I listened to Holy Mountain and In the Heat of the Moment back-to-back for the first time yesterday. The difference was shocking. I like ITHOTM, but I agree that it sounds so safe and linear. Holy Mountain is just so colorful and striking. It's a real statement. Whereas ITHOTM is a good...whisper.

How about "Holy mountain" vs. "Mucky fingers"? I'd choose Mucky Fingers all day every day over Holy Mountain. I like Mucky Fingers, it's a none headache inducing little rocker. Production on Holy Mountain makes my brain bleed as soon as the song starts.

The only interesting part about ITHOTM are the na na nas. In the three years since it was released, I have never really gotten into the song - I prefer Do the Damage, or almost any other song on Chasing Yesterday.
It's funny, a lot of the comments about Holy Mountain I've read on here would be very fitting descriptions for ITHOTM.

I judge Noel songs by how interested I am in playing them on guitar. I still enjoy running through ITHOTM, it has some sweet chord changes. I'd rather rake my face with a pitchfork than try to play HM again. let me know when you get to kid a.
