BOSTON (AP) -- Boston Bruins fans cheered so loudly during the singing of the Canadian national anthem before Thursday night's playoff game against the Montreal Canadiens that they almost drowned out singer Rene Rancourt. Some Canadiens fans booed The Star Spangled Banner before Game 3 of the NHL Eastern Conference quarterfinal series on Sunday night, drawing criticism form the Bruins organization and U.S. fans. The Canadiens played a video message before Tuesday's Game 4 encouraging fans to show respect for the U.S. anthem. The crowd got the message and stayed quiet. A smattering of boos could be heard under the first few bars of O Canada on Thursday, but they were quickly drowned out by the cheers. this was also from last year. i think the worst thing that happened with montreal-boston was when i think ryder (montreal) faked an injury. i'm a ranger fan, so i don't really have a lot to be proud about as well.
