Very good chance that it'll be in the charts for another 1-2 weeks. Adding fuel to the fire that it was a better received song than was initially thought. Would have charted much higher without a btoched release strategy. My mates and parents have been referring to it as "his hit" What if Dead on The Water becomes an unexpected hit? It has some great backing in iTunes in the UK...

My mates and parents have been referring to it as "his hit" What if Dead on The Water becomes an unexpected hit? It has some great backing in iTunes in the UK... It would take a lot of work and need that trendy/phenomenon type appeal. It happened with Pearl Jam’s last kiss cover that was just a limited fan club only CD release initially, DJs played it on FM and it grew and grew to an absolute monster hit smash. Their biggest of their career at almost age 40.

Dead in the Water is at #42 on itunes, Holy mountain #21 Could we see a new peak for Holy Mountain next Friday? I heard someone say that all hard copies sold to date will be counted this week. That is true. I’m not sure how many physical copies he sold over the last 2 months but maybe in the 2,000+ range. Combine that with Moon being in the shops and Spotify, it could have a big jump in the charts. Nothing like Top 25 but maybe 40s if it all breaks right.

We saw the photos of Noel in the black mock neck and fender jaguar and also the Beautiful World paint sign. Why didn’t he release it last week? Fuck the lyrics video. The time has passed for BW to be a big meaningful single.

It'd be cool if WBTM turned out to be Noel's hottest-selling record.

Only squares care about chart positions. You think Tom Waits, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Paul Weller.....care if they are number 1 in the charts?? hahaha. There's some young'uns on here who have been brought up on the fact probably unintentionally that charts matter and its a badge of honour. Its nothing. True artists don't get to number 1 because the majority of the public are clueless. Its not the 1960's. If Noel debuted at number 4. Id take that as a good sign to be honest.

It's a shame Noel doesn't do well in streaming because Holy Mountain has been top 40 in the sales-only chart

Noel had 6-7 songs in the top 100 of Spotify yesterday. I suppose it's normal on release day, but still I guess it's a good sign at least for this week Btw, first one was STHTF at 43 spotifycharts.com/regional/gb/daily/latest

Not as high as Ed Sheeran either. Or others. But probably higher than others. Your point being?

As I said in other post, my only interest in Noel's sales is that he sells well enough to maintain his creative freedom, without being forced to make "safer" albums or even having to go for a record deal.

Yes, I don't know much about charts but I think streams from predefined playlists should count less, because the listener does not make the active choice of listening to a particular song. It's as if in the old times listening to a song in the radio counted for the charts I guess it's also bad for small labels as Noel's because I guess big labels will lobby to dominate the big playlists and songs from small labels will only appear in the automatically generated lists of his fans
