1. Holy Mountain 2. The Death of You & Me 3. In The Heat of the Moment
I really like Death of You & Me, but it wasn't anything surprising to hear, and not as catchy as Holy Mountain. I always prefer lead singles to come out with a bang, and Holy Mountain does that.
One thing that did please me about Death of You & Me was the instrumentation. I was getting quite frankly bored of the dull sonic qualities of Oasis songs, which ended up amounting to nothing more than a guitar sludge. The inclusion of New Orleans ragtime brass was really cool and refreshing to hear from Noel, and kind of recalls Noel implementing some Burt Bacharach style features on Going Nowhere.
Holy Mountain has the entire package though. At various times of the day, my mind will be recalling the brass section, or the tin whistle, or the 'wooohs' (particularly on the outro), or the verse rhythm and lyrics or the chorus. It's a full frontal onslaught of sound that keeps throwing tricks out left, right and centre, while it soars and soars and soars. You need a rest when you're finished listening to it, yet it's only going to be the second track on the album - I'm thinking that if Fort Knox is a belter, then this going to segue brilliantly into Holy Mountain, ensuring an absolutely thrilling opening to the album. It's one of the most relentless tunes I've heard in ages, and it's a shock from someone who I thought was going too tame, too safe, and too mid tempo over the last number of years.

I've never been a massive fan of The Death Of You And Me, except for the 'I'm watching my TV' bit and the horns. I think ITHOTM is a belter live, it's only really the nah nah nahs that let it down for me, and that final two choruses are mega IMO. Holy Mountain is just pants, I'm all for the idea and like the samples, just think it's a pretty naff song. Hopefully the rest of the album is better or at least more interesting.

In The Heat Of the Moment for me. Good radio song. Yeah, I don't mind the na-na-na's.

TDOYAM is fantastic but I have to vote for HM because it's more fresh and now I am so excited about it. I used to like ITHOTM, but it became the favourite song of my then 3-years old kid, and I spent like 6 months listening to the "na na na" song on repeat each time I drove him in my car. Now, it's the only CY song I skip every time. Just in case, I will not let him listen to HM

Given Noel's past choices for track 3 on an album (inc. Oasis albums) and it tending to be one of the best songs (let's forget about Girl With The X-Ray Eyes for a sec LOL) then I'm thinking this could be one of the best 3 track openings to a Noel album ever! We know Fort Knox will be stonking.

What put me off TDOYAM was when i logged in to my computer to say NME plastering "fans say better than Beady Eye". This was after an hour of one single being released, after Beady Eye's album was out so i was expecting something spectacular, and in reality i think all of the Importance Of Being Idle rehash remarks have some truth.
But as time went on i appreciated the song more for what it is and in the context of this poll, it is streets ahead of the other 2. I think Heat Of The Moment would never ever have been the first song we heard from HFB, it served as more as a teaser for CY rather than lead single in the way TDOYAM was if that makes sense.
Holy Mountain i am just not getting. I am still excited for the new direction and love the sound of Beautiful World but i'm not into liking it just because its a new direction. A concept should still be built on substance and judging from the first song, if you'd told me he just went in the studio and bashed out any old shit with Holmes i'd believe it.

To be fair, most of the singles from that Beady Eye first album were written by Gem and Andy (aside from Bring The Light). As I've said, and proven with Liam's success with his work with top professionals, them two were excess and talentless fodder that dragged him down. Just mere Noel impressionists with their songs, without any of the craft. Acting and writing like imposters, no real Oasis fan would want those turgid boring dad rockers (Heavy Stereo frontman? ) putting out anything better than the man who wrote Live Forever so I get why folk were always willing Noel to do one better as he is the real thing. Thankfully, Death of You & Me is far superior to anything they've ever written.

Thankfully, Death of You & Me is far superior to anything they've ever written. You've taken that out of the context it was written. When i first went to hear TDOYAM there were already big headlines saying better than Beady Eye. At this point DGSS had good/decent reviews and i think we forget that. Anyway, that just made me expect more than what i actually heard. The Importance Of Being Idle is very similar but also 10x superior IMO, and i think my amount of listens in the last 5 years reflects that.

TDOYAM is the best song.
But ITHOTM is the best lead single.
HM sits closely behind ITHOTM.
Think about it.

TDOYAM is so much mature... From this perspective one can say that his work quality is on decline. Or shifting his music aim to a younger/wider audience.

haha i dont actually know how to vote on this cant see an option.
DOYAM is alright bit too much like IOBI for me to love it as much as some the others. THOTM i think would of liked alot more if it didnt have the NAH NAH in it. but if he did that melody on something else i would like it alot more. glad he missed that out live.
after giving holy mountain a try for me it holy mountain by a country mile

The death of you and me is a very good song, the dying of the light reminds me of the oasis days and I love it. The ballad of the might eye is my favourite moment from Noel since he went sold.
One week on from hearing it and holy mountain hasn’t grown on me at all and is my least favourite song Noel has Written since I can see a liar.

Noel's best solo song is The Death of You and Me. So that's easy.
