fucking barre chords ((( cheers mate. any alternative way of playing the B? Pushing myself with them, as I know I've got to get through the barrier, but if there's an alternative then I try to use that to get me used to playing the song!

Way easier with capo on 1. G for the whole verse, with a switch to D for the last bar. Chorus is G D C G. Get out of the doldrums... Is C G C D. Enjoy playing

It'll come all of a sudden and you wont even know why. For me it happened almost overnight. Otherwise you can transpose as mentionned above with capo on 1st fret but it will sound les rock n roll ( ). It was recorded on the 4th fret.

And there is a second guitarist that adds the punchiness.

Being lazy if you can get away with it is great

why the fuck not ? Because playing the way he plays the songs nowadays is less rock n roll. So the 2nd guitarist has to add the punch so the song will support his voice. Some songs tend to lost a bit from this new way of playing. Playing the same chord on first fret or with a capo on 3rd or 4th isnt the same. simple as that. every guitarist knows it. But to be fair, it's not really laziness, it's just because he now sings all the songs. So he's focusing on that.

In fairness mate, he seems to have religiously avoided barre chords throughout his career where possible. Obviously everybody has to use them at some point, but acoustically he always tried not to and even in interviews (from the early days) he says that he told Bonehead never to play open chords as that gave the songs the energy and the punch.

Oh no, I know why he does it - I just applaud the new levels of laziness that's all But as bt95 says he's always shied away from barre chords - I distinctly remember when Liam pulled out of MTV Unplugged due to "laryngitis" and Noel took lead vocal duties....I noticed Noel play the Bminor in Some Might Say on acoustic guitar and I was like "whaaaaaaaaat!?!?" LMAO So shocked

He's a very insecure singer and frontman (well, less now). the capo is like his teddy bear really

speaking of barre cords: could be another reason why he doesn't play it live so often anymore.

so many classic oasis riffs are based around open chords, it's almost his trademark as a guitarist

Well you got a very soft sound. too soft. Gem added a bit of rock n roll to the tunes too while in Oasis. And i hope he will do the same on the new tour. But Noel + Tim, that was really not working. I just love playing barre chords, but I think I may be alone there. I love it too, so much powerful on electric guitar. Especially on a Gibson
