Go ahead discuss.... but there are far worse lyrics, even from Noel's own catalogue, than these.. Worst parts on Rock Martin song and the worst part on bring the light!!Awful and stupid in my opinion!

This debate is hilarious. Is it always like this on here? I like the song more and more with each listen. I liked the video, and the fact that Noel looks like he's having fun during the making of a video should tell you a lot about his mindset at the moment. That's good enough for me, and if this bombs, he probably won't be genuinely hurt. He is a music maker, and he's making something that he enjoys and is having fun playing and creating with some of his heroes Weller and JFMarr. It's not like he needs the cash! I try not to get into debates about comparisons cos the internet of 2017 means everyone gets polarised, and then any debate just becomes invalid. Put it this way, there's days when I don't even want to hear DM, live forever and slide away (ok, maybe not SA!!) included. And there'll be days I don't want to hear HM. Today tho, I want to hear HM, and whats coming next. Progress, evolution, diversification, experimentation, nerves, excitement. These are things you don't get listening to stuff thats already in your record collection. I last felt it whilst listening to the opening bars of the first Roses release in 20 years. And I'm looking forward to that drink-it-in-feeling I'll get when I first crack on WBTM. No no this isn't the norm. This is usually a very civilised forum without trolls. How can you lie to someone like that?

I think its quite funny that I havent saw anyone say anything about the lyrics.in liams songs people analyze every part of the lirycs. What a shite song and what a dump and stupid lyrics.is he writing for little kids now? 'You can blow my mind if you're that way inclined' is one of the best single lines of lyrics he's written imo It's a fun, bouncy, dancing like a tit, kind of song. It's not meant to be taken seriously. But mostly, it's something different. And that was needed from Noel at this stage.

Noel has written about a girl being electric and having someone in an oven, Lasagnas and a bald man on a polluted beach and cant write about him wanting his baby to be his butterfly ?
Come on, it's a silly one, it's meant to be silly. If you dont like silliness, you cant like this song, obviously.
Noel has always downplayed his silly side, now he's pushing it to the front. And that's good. More silliness, the world would be better.
But Liam's fans can't understand silliness, i suppose (that's the trolling part of the post to watch them explode).

C'mon people. It's been a couple of days since this song was brought to us. Some of us like it, some of us don't like, some of us hate it. It's all good. Just deal with it and move on. I know eva hates this song, but it's alright. I don't have to force her to like it or start to argument why she hates it etc etc.

Same. Personally, I enjoy it more than Up in the Sky and Married With Children too, but I know they'll be more contentious.
Shit, I always forget about Married with Children. So that makes at least three tracks from Definitely Maybe that are worse than Holy Mountain. I'm not so sure about Up in the Sky, I really like that tune.
married with children > shit mountian

Lovely silly Blur parody with great back-vocals and funny lyrics. I wish Bonehead sing it but he was too drunk and shy.

Possibly the best Noel's tune no one (or hardly anyone) has ever heard. Or the best Blur tune no one's ever heard I hope someday Damon Albarn sings it with Noel on guitar. Now that would be huge.

I gave HM an 8, and stand by it, but come off it. This post reads exactly like the early defenses for BTL: "Come on, it's just supposed to be a fun little thing to get people bouncing". "Album will be better". "Can't judge off of one single, really". "They've done worse before".

Trying to see it from a neutral point of view here, but if Liam wrote this, the lyrics would probably be scrutinized and he would be slammed for it. Since he isn't the better song writer, it would only be natural to criticize him for "another one of these" while for Noel, since he has so many good lyrics in the catalogue, it would be seen more as "It's just a one off".

ricardogce i Like Bring The Light, just that Holy Moutain has more silliness to it. But i still enjoy Bring To Light fully, it's in my edited 11 track Beady Eye DGSS that i listen to on a regular basis. Holy Mountain is overall better though: better song, better produced, and well, has Noel's touch. The flute and the bass... oh . If Bring the Light was the heart, Holy Mountain would be the brain. Noel, since he has so many good lyrics in the catalogue. Has he ? I mean i'm having a bit of distance with lyrics since i'm not english, to me lyrics are jut another instrument. They carry a feeling more than sense personally. There are a few i cant let pass (see Beatles and Stones), but overall, as long as the song is good, i dont care about lyrics. I never criticized Liam for his lyrics, or so few. I dont even mind the selfies and pretty green lines in his new song, i think they sound good the way they are written. If i want lyrics with meaning, i'll go read a book.

But Liam's song with good lyrics were always special for me - because you kinda don't except him to write good lyrics so sometimes I cheerish them even more than Noel's.

We're all part of a maaaaaasterplan

Yes, i know that nobody cares about the charts...but... SPOTIFY 10/10/2017 49 -2 For What it´s worth 127 -43 Holy Mountain 128 -5 You Better Run Very bad results fo Noel... maybe, just maybe, this song isn´t just good enoughThat's a rabbit hole. FOTF wasn't a high charting song, but it is a good song. The two aren't mutually exclusive. However, I will say that considering Noel has done almost no promotion in the UK for his single, it's essentially been autopilot, it's actually doing fairly well.

If i want lyrics with meaning, i'll go read a book. Some of Noel's lyrics in early Oasis songs were quite poetic. But lyrics mean little to me as well. I think they are too heavily analyzed here. "I can't listen to this song cause of one line, he said yoga." Stuff like that perplexes me. If the song is good, lyrics shouldn't totally turn you off the song. As you said, I'd read a book or go to a poetry show if lyrics were my main concern. A lot of Gallagher lyrics are cliche and bland at times, but who cares, there are other instruments, arrangements etc... to lift the song.

For Noel and the mic, I think he did that with roll with it at top of the pop. Someone can confirm?
