Wow, the raw emotions! Noel has hit a nerve with this ‘Nuggets’-style single! I get the visceral reactions, but it’s not like Noel has released a Monster Mash-style remix of Champagne Supernova featuring a three minute kazoo solo, thus destroying our childhood memories in a George Lucss manner.

It's that rancid it possibly ain't even worthy of a b-side imo. Absolute pile of tosh. No worries, from a right wing Daily Mail reader like yourself, I'm glad you hate it - would be worrying how tasteless and uncool Noel would have to be if he catered to your lot.

Why he named it Holy Mountain? It seems like Noel is obsessed with mountains - you can find a lot of references to mountains in his previous works. Also the only Holy Mountain I know is located in Israel.
PS It seems that I know the answer - he named it after a movie.

Yep, it's most likely a reference to the movie but there appears to be no reason for it - there's no reference in the lyrics at all from what I can make out. I expect the video to mad psychedelic if it is inspired by the movie. To give you a taste, in this still Jesus is annoyed when he wakes up hungover from a massive bender to find his mates have taken loads of plaster casts of him while he's been sleeping and completely filled his house with them, those crazy cats.

Some of the replies to people's opinion on it from both sides has been toxic honestly. A bit disappointed.

Like the song but not digging the mix. Lots of cool stuff going on there, wish you could really hear it all. Wish it was as spatial as AYW.

What if the real first single is It's A Beautiful World I think you're onto something here. Noel management has never referred to Holy Mountain as a “new single”. It’s been “new music” since the beginning. And we know this is silly thinking, but for them there's a big difference. From his website: "Holy Mountain is the first single to be taken from the brand new album Who Built The Moon? It is released on 24th November" store.noelgallagher.com/cart/product.php?id=34242

This reminds me of an old interview with Chris Evans (1996). Noel talked about Jarvis and Michael Jackson. He said that Jackson acts like a Messiah and Oasis should bring Papier-mâché cross at the next British Awards.

It seems I can't hear (Paul Weller playing) organ at all. :/

I never thought that Noel will make something different and refreshing... so glad that he made THIS type of record.

This song harks back to the BHN Owen Morris era. But yes, I agree. I am glad he is going back to this type of record. I couldn't be doing with another CY album.

The difference is the instruments used, with the notable lack of guitar and solo piece.

I hope that the pther songs are as joyful as this one. Don't know why someone says that Noel sold out and made a mainsteam record.

I think there are some right saddos on here, wanting Noel to continue doing his melancholy, dull, depressing stuff. I don't mind these tunes in small doses, but the reason why I fell in love with Oasis in the first place was to hear euphoric, uplifting, joyful, loud, fast tempo tunes - something Noel was brilliant at churning out during Oasis Mk1. But from SOTSOG onwards he lost his way somehow. This track however, sounds like Noel has finally found his mojo again.

Listened to this about 25 times now. Love the drive of the tune. Seems to me he needed to punch some of his songs up a bit. Liking the flute/whistle thing, I'm a sucker for catchy. Had some trepidation regarding the electronic talk of the record. This seems to lay that a bit to rest for me. Be interesting how this fits within the context of the whole though. That said, I wouldn't say it's awesome for me. Struggling to understand if I even really like it that much. Could be amazing live. His shows need to change a bit if I'm going to keep attending. Will be looking forward to hear the rest. If he can play this, surely he can play right stuff and song remains the same. I live in hope
