I wasn't a big fan of In the Heat of the Moment when it came out, and thought, 'lordy the Chief has finally completely lost it..nanana" Turned out, I loved the album. I actually like HM better than that - it's upbeat, happy and has a great flute sample. A nice 50's throwback - early rock is filled with slightly silly and simplistic, but good, singles. I actually like Noel's singing here, but it appears I'm in the minority. Given Holmes' involvement, I am surprised that the mix or production is my least favorite part. Bring back Sardy! hehe just kidding. In the context of the album, this song will likely make more sense. I just hope there aren't too many of these songs type of songs on the album and that the production/mix is better overall. the song has grown on me with each listen Did anyone notice, Jeremy Stacey is back on drums for the single? #22 on ITunes in the US. As You Were is at #2.

If Kurstin had been the record's producer, that would be another story. I'm talking about the difference between The Beatles being produced by George Martin and The Beatles doing songs like "How Do You Do It" to score a #1. There's an undeniable difference there. Depends if you think Liam is Elvis or The Beatles! (Is he a bit of both?) I see where you're coming from with this analogy. However, on the early Elvis albums (the ones that I like), he's not recording songs written by staff writers for that particular album. Instead, he's mostly covering songs that other artists wrote for themselves.

I'm not a Noel's mentor either. I think some people just biased towards the Gallaghers. If you have negative attitude - you won't like anything. Maybe you didn't wanna like it in the first place. I didn't like WoG at first because it was co-written with Kurstin, but it grew on me. Noel Gallagher is my favourite songwriter of all time. What's your point? Because I think this song is dogshit, I'm being negative? We really are in an age where everyone needs their hand holding. I didn't say that people need to support everything that the Gallaghers do, I said earlier that it's OK if you don't like this song - just explain why you don't like it. And if you don't have negative attitude - then I'm glad that I was wrong.

Say Noel is refreshing Liams twitter page continuously in fear after the public have basically officially denounced this track as utter tripe Noel isn't a masochist. He knows that Liam will mock it, but he doesn't care (that much). Plus it's Liam who is obsessed with Noel, not vice versa. He probably reads his every intervew.

It amazes me that anyone cancelled their pre order over one song.
One song? Do people walk out of a movie in the first minute?

First impression: Well, i don't feel the need to listen to it more often. I don't think it's horrible or even bad, there's just nothing remarkable in this song that makes me wanna listen to it (the beginning does sound a lot like 'Mucky Fingers' though). It's not as far away from Noels usual music as i expected it to be which is suprising, considering the short album preview.
I have to say i don't really need Noel to go into a new direction with his music. I'm a fan because of the music, not of the person that makes it. The sound of Oasis (and in parts NGHFB) works for me and will probably always work for me. If i want something different i'm gonna listen to another band. Still, the three album clips sounded interesting and especially 'It's A Beautiful World' got stuck into my head for the whole day.
Even though i don't really like this particular song, i'm still excited for the new album. I never liked 'In The Heat Of A Moment' which was the first single of 'Chasing Yesterday', so there is no reason to worry. I also consider 'Ballad Of The Mighty I' Noels best and most interesting song since the year 2000 and enjoy his second High Flying Birds album as a whole.

I believe both shot to the top immediately. And I would agree, the short week is going to hurt. Also, the fact that streaming is counted, and he won't be able to make it up with physicals. Are you sure it was the singles going straight to the top and not the albums? Wall of glass went straight to number 2. it stayed there for two days and on the top 10 for one week For what it´s worth went to number 5 (hell, even now it´s at 25#. very impressed, considering it went out on 10th August. it´s probably reaching its higher peak in this week´s charts) Holy mountain is still climbing on the list, but i can´t see it topping the list right now

I don't hear Mucky Fingers at all. That song had a real Velvet Underground (specifically I'm Waiting for the Man) feel about it. This doesn't have that. I think it's the monotone verse. I was thinking Mucky Fingers, as well.

If you must know, I dislike it because it sounds like it's written for a kid's programme, with a cheesy fucking attempt at a hook of a chorus. The vocals sound like a 50 year old man trying to roll back the years. It's akin to the sham that was All For One by the Stone Roses. Noel Gallagher is, in my opinion, the best songwriter of all time. This is not reflective of his best work, which I fear is now in the past. I liked NGHFB, didn't particularly find Chasing Yesterday inspiring, and this just takes the biscuit. If someone says "yeah, but he's trying something different" - so what? If I want something different, I'll listen to a different band. Just stick to what you're good at Noel. The chorus is stuck in my head, but so is the sound of when I once crushed my index finger in a door.

First and foremost I'm an oasis fan. A fan of their type of sound and music. In my personal opinion this has no relation to any of that sound or musical style that's come before it and as such I don't like it at all. I think Noel has tried to experiment and be different here and because of who he is he can afford to but it's not something I'd personally buy which is a shame as I've always brought into everything he's done but not this. I worry for the albums success if it's much of the same in style tbh. I'm sure some fans will buy it but can't see it appealing to any other audience. Disappointed

Anyway I like the fact that we can expect something quite different from Noel, I don't wanna hear more dad-rock songs. Plus - it's only one song! I'm sure that the better songs are coming.

This is probably the less Oasis sound I've heard from Noel ever. People said The Right Stuff was a different direction from him but at least the instrumentation part reminded a bit to SOTSOG. The music for The Right Stuff was written by Gaz Cobain from Amorphous Androgynous, not Noel, which is why it was a departure.

I'm loving how divisive this single is. It's made this forum so entertaining. Especially after Liam's album which love it or hate it (I really like it) was very shoot down the middle. This is different and some are embracing it, while others can't fucking handle it and it's amazing to watch.
