The Beat Goes On: Majestic, could have been a total Oasis classic. Love it more ever year that passes. No. There's no dynamics in The Beat Goes On. It's fucking beige, man. I keep reminding this forum that there's some delusional ice-creams out there who believe The Beat Goes On is better than The Masterplan....

This is awesome! It's fun, has so much energy and makes me want to dance. I'm not a musician or songwriter so I can't objectively analyse it - I just know that it makes me feel good, and sounds amazing to my ears. I even like the lyrics, which on their own, probably aren't that great, but in the context of the song, they work.

I am absolutely astonished by some of the negative comments on here. Is it really that bad to y'all? Imagine the reception if Noel released Kid A. I'm also flabbergasted. To me it isn't that out there really? Many people before were afraid and moaning saying "omg is going to be all sampling, no chorus, just weird, surreal stuff, Noel has lost it" Then he comes back with a catchy-as-hell chorus, straightforward song "omg Noel has lost is this is too pop, what is he thinking"

Had a few listens and its definitely a catchy little tune... I dont think its amazing nor utter shit, but it kind of worries me that this tune is not The Mexican of the album. Its the first song after the instrumental opener and the first single.

However, I really like Liam's vocals on it, it also has an anthemic chorus and I like the lyrics, simple yet emotional. Could have had more oomph of course, but it achieves what it sets to do, at least for me. Not the best BE song for me though.

It was mentioned pages ago but I just want to add my two cents: Bring The Light: still utter gash, vomiting stuff The Beat Goes On: Majestic, could have been a total Oasis classic. Love it more ever year that passes. Carry on everyone The Beat Goes On is a fucking tune and a half. I've never understood the hate it gets. Lovely melody, sweet lyrics, and a very delicate vocal from Liam, even though it was recorded when his voice was at its lowest point.

If we can somehow get it to them it might appeal to the DJs of ‘80s northern town working men’s clubs. They could go from Agadoo into Holy Mountain and off in to Hi-Ho Silver lining. Throw down your handbags, it’s time to get down.
Mine’s a Babycham.

I will say this - it's very retro. Has that late 1950s/early 1960s sound to it. Beach Boys too.
I actually think of Grease when listening to this.

It reminds of some of the stuff Andy did with Hurricane #1, which I mostly love. Sometimes all you need is a simple, emotional, lovely anthemic melody, and that's it.

Many people before were afraid and moaning saying "omg is going to be all sampling, no chorus, just weird, surreal stuff, Noel has lost it" Then he comes back with a catchy-as-hell chorus, straightforward song "omg Noel has lost is this is too pop, what is he thinking" Exactly! It's not as if he released a 13 minute krautrock-space-ambient-jazz-rap-psychedelic freakout. He released perhaps his catchiest and most upbeat single ever. Far from the radical change that some are labeling it, it's a perfectly linear progression from the songs on Chasing Yesterday. In fact, he should've been releasing songs like this 20 years ago. And had he released this song back in 97, I'm sure it would've been a worldwide hit lapped up by even the most ardent fans of dad rock. Pop music is what Noel does best, what were you expecting?

I also want to shout along to the chorus with: "BABY COME ON, BABY COME ON..."
It's not a good sign when I'm reminded of Bring the Light.

Also, I think a lot of fear is around wondering if this is the best song on the album.
Because if it is....
....we're fucked.

I love how people are borderline if not personally offended by this song. Calm down folks!

He should've released that though, I'd be giddy Of all the lukewarm responses on here, it's yours I identify most with. We'd been hearing about how radical and experimental Who Built the Moon will be, and then we get this? Now that's a disappointment! Just like you, I really hope we get something in the vein of Teotihuacan or something off Slowdive's latest. Personally, I'd be fine with an album full of Holy Mountains, but I completely understand why you'd feel shortchanged. But the people complaining about it being "too Ricky Martin", I really don't get it....

Maybe it's because I'm listening through studio monitors, but I don't notice any quality issue. I think it is because I was listening on my phone. Hearing now on my speakers, sounds a lot better.

Ha. It's growing on me. Well I feel like a total knob.
Although I fucking hate when songs fade out, it's proper beige.
Liam's Come Back To Me does the fucking same and it's irritating as fuck.

Big, big thumbs up for this.
I mean, it’s not even in the top half of his ‘songs’ BUT it’s about the energy, the sound, the feeling of it?

Honestly, how many times has Noel released a debut single and that song ended up being the best thing on the album? Maybe DYKWIM? Go Let It Out and The Shock Of The Lightning maybe? Gas Panic is a far superior song imo. I'd maybe even put Roll it Over above it too. TSOTL isn't heads and shoulders above IOT, Falling Down, or the Turning. But those, I would agree, are borderline cases.
