I'm glad they are scrapping friendlies.

i like the format. its also way better than the pointless friendlies we got now. and linking it with euro qualification gives it some relevance. im usually a football luddite, but this makes sense.

Was hoping we'd fall to league D but then we got 2 wins against Iceland and Kosovo (I went to see both games so don't mind winning) so we're in league C now. There are some interesting away countries in league C so I'll try travel to some of them. Also if I really move to Glasgow next year I should be able to get flights for relatively good price. Middle Europe is good because you could just fly to the cheapest country near the game and travel with bus/train or even with a 2nd flight. I flew from Hungary to Kosovo for 25€ and then we got a taxi to Albania (240km) for 20€ per person Would be cool to be in the same group with Estonia, Scotland and Israel/Serbia. I'd go to every away game.

This is definitely better for the likes of San Marino etc. Saves them shipping 5+ goals every game and actually gives them some competitive games.

I predict there will be lots of drama and chaos around this thing. The system isn't exactly clear yet. I haven't bothered to read all the rules yet but reading some posts from "wiser" people I've got the impression that there's a big chance of some fucked up scenarios in the league. But well, I guess it'll entertaining. We're in league-C so there'll probably be lots of interesting away trips for me

Yet another unnecessary competition in football that's made to make even more money, great!

The draw is tomorrow! 11am UK time I think.
I'm really hoping Scotland although if I do move there I feel a bit bad being in the city with our Finnish mob. Just joking, we're not a mob. We're friendly fans even when drunk, which is always.

Would be cool to get Belgium and Poland as we haven't played them too much those last years.

Why? Replacing friendlies with something more meaningful against better opposition.

Hungary, Greece, Finland, Estonia Boring as fuck. Unless I find really cheap flights I'm not going to Hungary again. Greece is okay but we played against them in Euro 2016. Estonia is cool but if i move to Scotland I might not be able to make the ferry trip with 1000 other Finns The most annoying thing is having Hungary instead of Scotland. I don't have anything good to say about them. Scotland, on the other hand, would've been a nice away trip

Portugal and Italy it is, then! Revenge for Euro 2016 quarter finals is imminent I am looking forward to the bouts with Azzurri though - the morale is pretty low after they failed to qualify for the World Cup, and Gian Piero Ventura's spot is still vacant as of November 15th. I wonder if and how they are going to sort their shit out in time for the Nations League.

Great alternative for friendlies. Calling it summat different doesn't actually make it different mate. Just glorified friendlies at the end of the day, innit.

Nations league is the best thing that has happened to European football. It's almost as exciting as the Euros itself. National team games in a league format? Yes please. The system is fucking brilliant. I feel like people who hate it don't even get the point in the first place. I think the Nations league has potential to be as highly appreciated as the Euros some day.

And if they would have only been friendlies in disguise I don't think the players would have cared as much as they do.

I think it's been great. Usually this time of year I'll be watching England play Moldova or someone like that in a qualifier. How does a game like that improve England or teams like Moldova when there is such a quality difference? Instead we've played two tough games in Croatia and Spain where we've gained a win and a draw and would have learnt so much.
