Leeds United's on-loan defender Steve Caldwell says that the Elland Road club have a cup final every week to try and secure Premiership survival.
A 2-1 victory against Manchester City lifted the Whites off the foot of the table, but they still face an uphill struggle to escape the drop.
He commented: "With nine (games) to go they are all cup finals and that is how we should treat them.
"I would like to think we are on a roll and if we can continue that and get our confidence even higher, then I believe anything is possible.
"But as soon as we get to whatever the magic number is, 40, 43 points or something like that to be absolutely sure, the better."
Meanwhile, Alan Smith's agent, Alex Black, has denied that the England forward has asked to leave the club at the end of the season.
