Thoughts from the Manchester gig last night (first time I've seen NG since the CY tour): His band is tight as f*ck now. Musically as good as I've ever seen him. Like night and day from when I saw him in Manchester in 2012. The WBTM tracks are bloody great live! FK, KOR, BW, ILITL and DITW all absolutely fantastic. The CY tracks that he played also held up really well. Think he did Riverman, Heat of the Moment, BOTMI and The Right Stuff last night. Does he HAVE to play all of Wonderwall, DLBIA and Little by Little? I know the casuals love them but how about She's Electric, Slide Away, Live Forever or Listen Up from the 90's vintage back catalogue?Ending with All You Need Is Love and releasing those balloons......fucking hell. 8/10 - a top quality gig albeit with a couple of personal gripes. I think Round Are Way - and updated version like he did with Whatever - would work brilliantly with his current set-up.

Only issue really was the sound at times.
Four times I think in total, the sound totally dipped out. Definitely a tech issue. Was fixed very quickly each time but just a shame.
The band all carried on throughout but it was more than noticeable.

Amazing night in Manchester. Holy Mountain went fucking off. People up and dancing in the seats - something I have never seen at an NG gig before in the first couple of songs. I was stood around 20 yards back and the crowd around me were phenomenal. IABW is just incredible live, and the musicianship of the band is ace. She Taught Me How To Fly was great as well. I was honestly blown away. I can't understand the gripes. Yes, a few tweaks to the set piece would be nice, but overall, it was by far the best Noel gig I've been to. Seriously considering trying to get to see him in the summer now . The bloke's a genius. Take the Oasis context out of it now. He's an artist in his own right, backed by a brilliant back catalogue - which at times yes, he doesn't make the most of. Has a conversation after with a bloke who said it can't compare to Oasis. I couldn't care less. Oasis is dead and gone. Nearly 10 years ago. We love them, always will, but they aren't needed. If you want that type of atmosphere, go and support a band like DMA's or Blossoms that at least are trying, in their own ways. But until another British band comes from nowhere, then it'll never happen like it did then so stop wishing that both Liam and Noel will be something they aren't. Yeh, Liam's doing great, but in terms of musicianship, writing, the ability on show - it doesn't come close to the High Flying Birds at the moment. Nowhere near. Glad to hear you had a great time Everybody who went/gonna see Noel on this tour, will agree how his band is tight as ever now with having Gem and Chris next to him. I had nothing against Tim Smith and Stacey, but there was always something I missed at my previous Noel's gigs in 2011 - 2016. I think Noel feels more confident being a front man and he's clearly enjoy with what he's doing right now. I've seen Liam in March and Noel 2,5 weeks ago and I enjoyed both gigs. However I must admit that I've prefered Liam's than Noel's. Partly because it was Liam's first ever solo gig I went to (I did see Oasis for 4 times and Beady Eye for 3 times though) and it was my 5th time seeing Noel, so I kinda expected what I would get at Noel's gig except new songs. I loved The Right Stuff and Be Careful... with YSEÉ. She was fantastic. I agree with you saying Oasis are dead and gone. Oasis are done and I don't want them to reunion because I love them. I'm not chasing the past, it's not my thing. You can't step forward if you're stick to the past. But Oasis were/are/will always be one of my 3 life time bands and no Liam or Noel's solo career beat them.

It's all down to personal opinion at the end of the day. My issue has been with people not giving the album a chance. The new songs are a blast - they're joyous. I think if people go expecting Noel to stand there motionless and surly then they're in for a surprise and they need to take that context out of it. The music is so uplifting and you can genuinely dance to it. I also notice he seems to have developed his own 'stance' when he plays with the Jazzmasters - he's definitely holding the guitar lower down and doing much more of a stance that you'd see someone like Billy Joe Armstrong do, weirdly enough. Manchester was always going to be a big night and being in the city centre on a red hot day you could feel the buzz. Everybody I spoke to loved the new songs, even if they then said they would prefer Liam. The biggest thing for me was the reaction to Holy Mountain. As I said, there were people (and it wasn't just one or two) up in the stands dancing and jumping about straight away for that tune. It's massive.

I fell I fell right under Noely's spell I guess From everything all of you write, it's such a pity that I don't have a chance to see Noel this tour. I like the album, but it's a bit luke-warm for me, therefore I would have loved to give the legendary live effect - that can change everything - a chance and it seems, that effect is pretty strong with this album. Oh well, maybe next time or at least, hopefully with the upcoming festivals, a live recording to enjoy.

Pretty sure i'm gonna get Tramlines tickets now.
£79 like, but not bad for both Phonics and Noel.

My review of Manchester:
I was in standing on Friday, around 50 metres back.
Fort Knox - REALLY underwhelming for me. I thought this would be a banger to start the set with it just didn’t have the drive I thought it would have.
Holy Mountain - similar to the above. Hardly anyone moving and didn’t seem to get much of the crowd going.
KOR - great live, really enjoyed it.
IABW - great. Stage effects added to it.
Heat / riverman / Ballad / if I had a gun - all solid, as per
Dream on - best song of the set so far. Has to stay. Crowd bouncing.
Little by little - first time noel bothered to chat. Good to see the red three quarters of Manchester present with plenty of boos when he mentioned city.
Law - superb live, crowd not into it.
Dead in the water - ‘biblical’ as RKID would say.
Be careful - interesting live. Crowd not into it.
She taught - mega. Love the chorus.
Right stuff - ysee good but this is a waste of a song on the set.
GLIO - preferred it to the Spotify version. Quite liked it.
DLBIA - mega as always.
All you need - funny Scouse intros from Noel. Not a fan of it though and the balloons are cheesy as fuck.
Other notes - gem and chris back is great, really adds to the band. Other new members are great. How come Charlotte wasn’t ‘playing’ the scissors though?
In all honesty though, it felt like the worst time I’d see noel solo.. I’m not sure why that was - maybe the atmosphere, maybe with him being fairly quiet or maybe the anti climatic start and ending. 6/10 for me unfortunately.
I’ll see how it compares in Leeds tonight.

I think the atmosphere/ set really suffers from the opening 4 songs. FK HM KOR IABW . The crowd just don't get into it at all, I liked IABW at hydro but was a weird atmosphere until he played heat of the moment. I think he could do with shoving in everybody's on the run or lock all the doors or just something the crowd can get into. Reaction to STMHTF much better towards the end of the set after the crowd get into it. Even putting go let it out at the start and shoving something else into the encore might have that effect

Every person standing around me was well into the first four songs at Manchester tbf I agree in principle but I think those four songs have to go together. They fit so well together.

And its personal taste, but I preferred it to Liam in Amsterdam, but I think that's more because I prefer a bit more of a chilled out approach to gigs rather than loads of blokes jumping on each other haha.

It’s apples and oranges. You just can’t rate them against each other. Two totally different experiences. The live versions of his new stuff are just so much more “complete?” I was lucky enough to be with a couple of people who know him and when I was on shoulders during Little by Little I got a special “point of acknowledgement ” from Noel hahaha 🙃

Cardiff last night was incredible. I can't believe how much tighter the band have become since Chris amd Gem have joined. Gem's style suits Noels's songs so well. Yet again I was reminded what a tune Holy Mountain is, in fact all of the songs off the new album really do come to life when played live.Highlights for me were Dead In The Water,Holy Mountain, She Taught Me How to Fly (with incredible laser show), Go Let It Out and Half The World Away. I really liked Go Let It Out, Noel really puts his own style on it and for me it really worked last night. Personally i am sick to the back teeth of Wonderwall, enough please!!!(Just a personal thing!) and The Right Stuff seemed a little self indulgent, but thats just nit picking!!! Noel was cleaerly gutted to have to fly down from the partying in Manchester for the gig but he still put on a great show, he is clearly really loving playing these new songs and is having a blast on stage.A guy clearly at the top of his game and enjoying every second of it! Chalk and cheese to some of those final Oasis gigs. Long live The Chief!!!

Didn't enjoy the Manchester gig very much, to be honest. It's put me off going to see him live again.
I thought when I was stood there listening to If I Had a Gun (why's he still playing that fucking thing?), and all these tanked up geezers around me were singing shouting along to Noel's heartfelt lyrics, 'something's gotten lost in translation here'. Dead in the Water was another example. Nice tune which he played with just him and Mike Rowe--all intimate, like. But the crowd just wanted to chant the lyrics out as if they were at a football match, so you could hardly fucking hear him. Makes you wonder whether they're there to see him at all, or whether Noel and his band and the music they're playing aren't just an excuse for them to get wankered and do some shouting. Not my idea of a good time.
Still, Heat of the Moment and If Love is the Law sounded good--as I'm fond of those tunes anyway, I was pleased by that. Liked that he gave the lass with the pipes on her the verses of The Right Stuff to sing, as well.

Cheers He'll be outside the arena around 4ish usually I think. But I'd say take advantage of the nice weather and get yourself to a good bar! The great thing about Leeds is that everything is within 5/10 minutes walking distance in the centre. Get yourself to Belgrave Music Hall or Headrow House for rooftop terraces this afternoon, and then it's just a short walk to the arena for the signing and you can always pop back to the streets around it for a drink before going in.

Try going to a Liam gig then haha Ironically, most of the complaints I've seen (which isn't many) is that there's not enough songs that the football casuals can sing along to. They're crying out for an Oasis reunion which simply isn't needed.
