He's clearly taking the piss. When has he ever spoken so formally? He's mocking the average celebrity who claims they were hacked.

The likes of NME and Radio X do my head in. They pick up on the smallest things, which in this case was definitely a piss take, and report it as if it’s a genuine story. It happens all time time.

Hard to tell tone of voice from a written interview. But the interviewer, missing in this NME story, did ask twice if he was being serious:
In: I saw your comments about his performance at the Manchester benefit. Did you think he was faking that emotional display? L: Oh, that wasn't me. Someone hacked my Twitter account.
In: Someone hacked your Twitter? l: Yeah, I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't say stuff like that. Can you believe that?
In: Wait. Those tweets were written by somebody else? L: Someone hacked into it and tweeted them for me. I wouldn't do that stuff. The police are looking into it now as we speak.
In: You do have one of the best Twitters in the music industry. You're so honest on there. L: Listen, mate. You ain't gonna get me filtered. I'm not going to filter myself. I don't really mean to cause that much harm. If I've upset people, then I'm sure they'll fucking get over it. I just talk a lot of shit. Sometimes when you talk a lot of shit, you find some real good gems in there. I like tweeting. It's a good way of staying in touch with the fans, letting them know I've not vanished off the face of the earth like some people would like it.
I still think he was joking, but it's not really clear-cut that he is here. The fact that he said it unprompted and then carried on with it is weird.

He was clearly joking ffs. Of course he would say stuff like that. He called Noel's wife a shit Meg the very same day. And like someone else said, if he was hacked, why hasn't he deleted the tweets? C'mon now, people...

People piss about. My best mate tells people at graft that I used to put me mam's swimming costume on as a kid and pretend I was a wrestler. And he's kept that story going for around a decade now. Fuckers chat shit.

He answered those particular questions without a single "d'you know what I mean?" or "without a doubt, mate", and he even threw in a "I would never do that", before switching back to his usual conversational style. He was totally putting on an act.
