When we did the reissue somebody said 'Why don't you do an edited version?". And I sat in a studio for a full week and the tapes didn't grab me at all. The only thing I could salvage was 'D'You Know What I Mean' But don't get me wrong I sign a shit load of those records every year". People are prepared to have stand-up rows with me in the street: 'I fucking love that album!' And I'm like, 'Mate, look, I wrote the fucking thing. I know how much effort I put into it. It wasn't that much'''.

Noel's opinion of not putting much effort into it is again BS, and trying to cover his tracks. We all know many of the songs on that album and B sides were written long before he went to Mustique on holiday. Certainly DGA, DYKWIM, SBM, MBM, SY, IGBM, MSL, GN and AATW were.

I think the only songs Noel wrote during his holiday were most likely The Fame, IHITIK, TGWWTDS, Fade In/Out and BHN. He must have wrote Magic Pie, I got the Fever and Flashback when he came back from his holiday.

So at least half of those songs he was sitting on during DM and WTS, and saved them for the third album. You could argue not much effort went into recording the tracks, but again I call that BS. The amount of effort he went to in having multi-layers, orchestras, etc. That is much more difficult than strumming away on an acoustic guitar.

Noel, as we know, was coked up at the time.

By the next album, SOTSOG, he quit the drugs (other than alcohol). Which means he was probably in quite dark times due to drugs around 19997-1999. Ergo, looking back he probably has some very bad memories of those times and BHN probably triggers those memories. Kinda makes sense when you think about it.
