Whole interview was great, but the discussion on CalJam starts around 13:00 minutes in. And then they start talking about Liam and him stopping by Foo Fighters's dressing room at 16:20 mark. Link below:

Very confusing for a Brit - did Oasis fail in America or not? You get told they did but then you see stuff that suggests they had a decent profile over in the land that invented freedom.

They definitely broke America. Key thing is they didn't break it as big as u2 or Coldplay. At their peak when I was in college, most stores in malls had oasis posters/shirts/books, music played on radio and constantly referenced. I think Liam and Noel downplay it a bit.

Whenever you hear interviews with other bands, they almost always admire and respect Oasis and their place in the history of music. The common folk, not as much. That said, Oasis did fine in the US. Are they U2 or Coldplay... no. But they never wanted to be that either.

I think it's important to remember that back then, MTV and radio had a very heavy influence in music.. I remember that I didn't hear, Wonderwall, on my radio for at least a year later if not longer... All my friends in high school were heavily influenced by grunge bands and if music wasn't praised by MTV then it wasn't good. I know it sounds absolutely ridiculous and lame but that's how it was.. however, if you ask anyone, most know oasis songs and the brothers..so I think they made it in America.

Was listening to that podcast as well, great as always, Dave is a great story teller.
Plus i like the fact that he's still amazed to be able to do whatever he wants, and act like such a fanboy around other musicians, pretty down to earth to me.
Too bad Foo Fighters didn't go into other territories, musically. The new record is enjoyable enough, but not their best.
