What information is there about this song? I know he recorded it during the Oasis days and I believe that it was for The X Files (though that may be incorrect). What other info is there? Has he ever been asked about it in an interview? It's quite a cool little tune and with his latest stuff supposedly a little bit more experimental, it could be an insight into what to expect on NGHFB 3, potentially!

Fucking cool ass instrumental. Should have been an official Oasis release.

Funny, this can be considered Noel's first official solo track, if you don't count the 1989 demos of course.

It's briefly mentioned in Getting High (the Paolo Hewitt book). Noel had written it before he got asked to do something for the X Files movie, but pretended it was written for them so he could charge them more.

I watched the film 'Love, Honour, and Obey' for the first time a few days back. I was surprised to see Force Of Nature credited solely to 'Noel Gallagher' no mention of Oasis at all. It's also weird that the film came out 2 years before Heathen Chemistry and the version is almost identical. It's a bit like if WPTWOTWOMS ended up on Dig Out Your Soul, or indeed Teotihuacan ending up on SOTSOG.

Force Of Nature was written and a demo recorded in France in March 1999, just prior to the start of the SOTSOG recording sessions. It was written specifically for the film at the time I think (i.e. in terms of NG getting asked to write a song for it, not the meaning behind the lyrics or anything). Little By Little was also written and demo'd at the same time.

The lyrics make a lot more sense and seem a lot more authentic when you put them in the context of the immediate period after the madness of the BHN era. By the time of Heathen Chemistry the lyrics feel a bit fake because by that time Noel had given up taking drugs and had left a large part of the rock n roll lifestyle behind.

Yeah we had FON as early as early 01 if i remember correctly. It's the same recording sped up and probably the demo Noel recorded by himself in 99 in France.

Love this instrumental. It's dark and somber. Loved it in 98... love it now.

Yes, & when "Heathen chemistry" was released every journalist said in their review of the album that "Force of nature" was a dig at Meg Matthews whom Noel had recently divorced, whereas that song was actually written while they were still married.
