sorry its old news!
David Beckham has admitted that he wants to see Alan Shearer back in the England squad for Euro 2004.
The Newcastle United striker retired from international football after Euro 2000 but has scored 17 times in the Premiership this season, form that Beckham believes merits a place in the national team.
The Real Madrid midfielder told the News of the World: "I would love to see Alan in the England team again.
"He is a special player and if he wants to come back and if Sven-Goran Eriksson wants him back then it would be great.
"Alan announced his international retirement after Euro 2000 but with the way he's playing now it would be great to see him back.
"We will have to wait and see what the manager decides.
"Sven's got more influence than I have but Alan's playing the best football he's probably been playing for a number of years."
Less than a week ago Shearer attempted to put an end to rumours about him coming out of international retirement, commenting: "This is my final word - I have retired from international football, full stop."
