Putting this one to a poll. [Mods, please keep in Fact and Fiction Section, Cheers].
As Oasis fans, we all know that Oasis has a long list of songs that are way better than Wonderwall, but that's not what we're debating, discussing, or voting on in this thread.
Yes, we know Wonderwall is well overplayed, but it's precisely that that shows, in my opinion, how universal the song indeed us.
Wonderwall is now a staggering 22 years old.
And it's still the first choice of anyone with a guitar to play. Music listeners of all genres will always sing it back in pride. Hell it was played by Jay-Z at Glasto (and was actually a success for Oasis). Every country around the world knows it, and those citizens still, too, sing it back. Both Noel and Liam have it in their current setlist and different arrangements to the song have been made over the last two decades.
The question now is: Will Wonderwall ever die? Will it ever fade away into obscurity?
I really don't think so. And because I don't think so, I'm voting that that YES - Wonderwall is indeed the most universal song of our generation.
And while Wonderwall is, for Oasis fans, overrated, I do have a great sense of pride of how Wonderwall (and DLBIA to a lesser extent) can bring the entire world together.
For any naysayers, I'd like you to list any song from the last 30 years that trumps it.

Of course it is. Even us Oasis fans are bored of it, you only have to look at the performace at the Olympics that Beady Eye did, everyone, no matter the country, was singing along with it. It is THE Oasis song to go to for pretty much everyone who even mentions Oasis or Noel or Liam, Wonderwall is most likely the go to song

It´s one of, but saying it´s "the song" can be a stretch but it´s certainly up there.
Although i´m so tired of it, it´s been played to death. It´s that song every guy who plays a guitar learns right away. It´s a good song, but i rarely, very rarely listen to it anymore. I was never excited when LG added it to the encore, i would much rather have Champagne Supernova instead.

Obviously a good song, but I just can't be doing with it anymore.
