Definitely Maybe is one of the best albums I've ever heard in my life. An absolute masterpiece from start to finish. I'm wondering if there's any album as good as, if not better than, Definitely Maybe (apart from What's The Story?(Morning Glory)) since its released? Heathen Chemistry.

I'll never get sick of this masterpiece.
Btw, thanks for making me sing Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band all day long.

In the same league as DM and MG : Pulp's Different Class and This is Hardcore are perfect albums from start to finish. I'd say even Blur's self titled is pretty perfect too. then : The Libertines debut is close to perfection, but just close. Foxygen's We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic Weezer's Pinkerton To name a few.

I'm 19 good sir, why do you ask? I didn't mean anything bad, it's just that I was thinking the same about AM when I was 19. Now, few years later, I realize how wrong I was. DM and WPSIATWIN are not even close when it comes to album quality. But then again, maybe I will think different 5 years from now. But I don't think that it will happen. I respect Oasis more and more with every day that goes by, I see more clearly now their flaws but they were the last and I respect them even more because of that. Beatles cover band, stealing from other musicians blah blah blah... But there is no new Noel Gallagher after Noel Gallagher. I think that something like DLBIA, for example, will always be 10/10 for me, up there with Hey Jude and great pop songs like that and with Mozart, Bach... Arctic Monkeys are great teenage pop indie band and I still remember that night when I was going to some music festival and I was listening WPSIATWIN in the bus. It's such a powerful album when you are 19, I remember putting my headphones on while entering the bus. I remember where I was, what I was doing, what I was watching for every song on that album. Fuck, I can smell it still. And yes, it was great. But I don't have that great feeling now when I listen to that album. And without that feeling, it's not the same. Yes, it's still good and all that, but you know, just mid 2000s indie.

And I discovered and fell in love with DM before than I discovered and fell in love with WPSIATWIN.
DM stood the test of time much better.

The Strokes' debut.
The National - High Violet
Santigold's debut.
Must-haves, just like DM is.

Yes, it's still good and all that, but you know, just mid 2000s indie. Watching their live performances from the past few years, I can tell that the band themselves feel the same way playing the songs as you do listening to them. They look as if they have outgrown the music itself and I guess that youthful energy that went into writing the songs just isn't there anymore. At the end of the day music is about how it makes you feel, and both of these albums make me feel like I've been on a rollercoaster ride when I get to the end, but as you said, maybe I will feel different in 5 years, maybe I wont, maybe jesus christ would have been a paedophile if he had a crisp packet on his head, who knows...

AM debut album was brilliant at the time but I just can't listen to it now, it feels awfully dated. I can still put on DM now and enjoy like the first time I listened to it.

There have been some truly amazing pop albums since Morning Glory (OK Computer, If You're Feeling Sinister, The Boy With The Arab Strap, XO, Funeral, Is This It?, to name just a few) and other great albums but I don't think anyone topped what Oasis did with the first two albums (Radiohead is not far...) I totally agree with what oasisserbia said. You can say whatever you want about the band in the 2000's but between 1994 and 1996, Oasis was untouchable. The sheer quality of the material is outstanding and should be an example for every band starting to write songs. What I find funny (or not) is the patronizing attitude the music press had with the band; "It's a band who just borrows Beatles stuff, they don't have any substance, blabla". Personally, I think the totally opposite. If there is one band of the "britpop" era that always showed refinement in their melodies, even with their big and abrasive sound, that's Oasis. Ever tried to play the 94-96 material on piano or violin ? You'll struggle to find any melodically weak moment. That's the power of 90's Oasis.

The only ones I could personally argue are better than Definitely Maybe: Ok Computer (1997) In the Aeroplane over the Sea (1998) Kid A (2000) Agaetis Bryjun (2000) The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008) My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (2010) The Suburbs (2010) To Pimp a Butterfly (2015)
