So the story is that Tony's wasn't able to drum on Bring It On Down for it to be the first single so he wrote Supersonic. I was listening to DM yesterday and it dawned on me how opposite Bring It On Down and Supersonic drum wise. Supersonic is basic drum student level whereas Bring It On Down is more complex. Coincidence or he was mocking Tony in a very subtle manner?

Didn't know about the drumming problem on "Bring it on down", I'd heard they couldn't get the recording right so they decided to try another song, which turned out to be "Supersonic". Where did you see Noel blaming Tony for the fact "Bring it on down" never got to be a single?

Where did you see Noel blaming Tony for the fact "Bring it on down" never got to be a single? Many books say that and I think it was even mentioned in Supersonic doc? According to Tony, Noel hired a session drummer to record Bring It On Down but he couldn't do it either. Noel left the studios while they were still trying to get it together. At that point one of the Griffiths brothers went to talk to Tony and encouraged him to play it. He got really psyched up and nailed it. Nobody told Noel it was Tony so he thought it was the session drummer. Noel later went to talk to Tony and said something like "the recording is perfect, that's how it should be played". Tony revealed it was him and Noel left without saying anything and looked annoyed. Not sure how much truth there is but I wouldn't be surprised if it's true.

I never really understood why Tony AND the session drummer struggled so much with Bring It On Down. Don't get me wrong it's not entirely basic but there aren't any technical fills etc in fact it's a very primal rhythm, I'd say something like See the Sun or Cloudburst are harder and probably Tony's best work.
