New single from Paul Weller, with Afrobeat and Middle Eastern vibes. What a good year to be a Weller fan.

Exactly! I received an email from his official site regarding this release today. Haven't listened to the song yet, but I'm gonna pre-order it.

Just pre-ordered a limited 12# vinyl of this and I'm listening to Part 1 on spotify as I type. I quite like it. It reminds me The Jam's "Circus" very much. What your thoughts on these 3 songs, Doc Lobster and theyknowwhatimean? Weller never bores me and like Dock Lobster said, what a great year to be Weller fans!

I loved the track (all three mixes) on first listen. I'm into all kinds of world music and strange East-West cross-pollinations so it didn't come off as a shock. The surprising thing is that Weller has managed to pull this kind of sound off so convincingly. It sounds like some obscure Middle-Eastern 70s soundtrack, the kind you would find on Finders Keepers or something.
I'm still listening to Jawbone and A Kind Revolution very often and I guess this single will get some heavy rotation too. He should release a full record in this style.
By the way, do you know if it's possible to get the vinyl in regular shops? Amazon is not listing it yet.

I pre-ordered it via his official store (shipping cost is a bitch!). Regular shops might have it on release date, but as it's limited copies, I wanted to avoid a risk to miss this 12 inch vinyl. Last year, Weller was one of the guests for Damon Albarn's Africa Express with The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians at Holland Festival. I couldn't get a ticket, but watched the live stream. Weller only played a song of his, but the entire performance by The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians was incredible. www.hollandfestival.nl/en/program/2016/the-syrian-national-orchestra-for-arabic-music/
