I really need a 4.5 (or 9 if this was out of 10). It's a brilliant track. Just a tick under the top tier of Oasis tracks. Noel's acoustic versions from the Be Here Now tour are stunning.
Both brothers should consider this song for set list inclusion.

Near perfection. Suffers a tiny, tiny bit from the needlessly shrill production of BHN. It feels like it would have been just perfect if it'd been part of MG. Still, the song itself is a clear 5/5. Maybe Noel will get bored one Sunday and do a "rethink" on it.

I say it all the time. If Oasis used this as their USA lead single to promote Be Here Now, it goes #1.

Definitely a 4/5.
A great song that would probably benefit from a subtler production. Still excellent as it is though.

The one and only track on the album that doesn't suffer from bloated production. It's a beautiful song that doesn't get enough attention outside of the fanbase. I never heard it on the radio. People either just don't know it or forget about it which is a real shame as it'd be universally acclaimed. It should've been the second single. Every single person that I know has heard this, loves it.
5/5

I recently convinced my best friend to give a go at Oasis entire catalog and while he loves the second album the most, he says this is his favorite song.
I don´t have it in that high regard but it´s incredibly well done, it´s not overly produced, flows just right. Guess they might have recorded this in a day where they weren´t very high. I also love the Mustique Demo. People always talk about Wonderwall regarding emotional songs and Oasis but i prefer this one every day of the week.

It depends, if I'm comparing it to the rest of the Oasis catalogue then I'd probably give it a 3.5/5 or 4/5 but if I'm rating it as a song in general then it's more like a 4.5/5.

I'm actually very surprised by the acclaim it gets here. Personally, I think it's one of their most overrated songs. It's got a nice melody going on in the verses, but when the chorus kicks in everything just dies because of those lyrics. I'm no lyrics nazi, sometimes corny lyrics fits a certain song just fine, but not in this case. At least not for me. Still, I gave it a 2 because of the melody. Edit: I guess that sounded as if I thought the lyrics were shitty. I don't, but it just sounds too corny to me, and when you get that feeling everytime you hear a song, it eventually gets very hard to move past it. But whatever, you can't like everything

I adore this song. No complaints at all. It's genuine, beautifully written, and the stunning, heartfelt vocal from Liam makes it exceptional.

I don't actually have a problem with the production on this track - it's the arrangement that gets it wrong for me. Take off that whiny electric guitar, strip it back to emphasise the horns, strings, acoustics, and of course Liam's vocals. If they'd have done that it would have probably been a 9.5/10 for me. As is, 8.5.
RETHINK THE REST OF THE ALBUM, NOEL

Too many guitar tracks, bass to low, no dynamics etc...
