Definitely top-10. Top-5... Dunno, maybe in some days.
Fucking great song anyway.

Not quite.
It kinda goes on for a bit...but the highs of the song are great.

I always have problems doing an Oasis top 5, they have so much quality all around, from the albums to the B-Sides that it´s quite a stretch to put 5 songs aside. There´s the risk it changes from month to month, etc, at least for me.
But Gas Panic is a fucking great tune. SOTSOG is my favorite album post Be Here Now but even here Noel´s quality control was going to shit. Little James makes a record but Let´s All Make Believe does not...I mean, ok, whatever matey.

It's a great tune, but I'm not sure about top-five of all-time (albeit that's entirely subjective ). I'd give that to DLBIA, Champagne Supernova, Live Forever, DYKWIM, and The Masterplan but I'd say Gas Panic! is without a doubt a top-five post-MG song. From start to finish, it's perfect and so well-written and arranged. It's six-and-a-half minutes, but doesn't feel like it at all, and really the whole feeling of the song is so different from what either of the brothers have done; together or apart (Alone on the Rope and Falling Down come somewhat close though). One really great way to listen to it is in the dark, late at night. The song is made for that type of an environment and all of the different bits of the song really come to life. I enjoyed your cover, btw! You nailed the basic aspects of the song perfectly and that solo was bliss. Well done.

It's not in my top 5, but I get how someone could have it ranked that high.
(I considered adding another non-decipherable chart here, but decided I could find the time currently.)

Top 10 for sure. I can see why one would put in their top 5. I listen to it a lot on winter nights, fits the mood.

Nah, the most overrated is SCYHO. I think you mis-read the quote here. SCYHO is overrated most of the time though.

Nah, the most overrated is SCYHO. True, i think mainly because it stands out on the pile of shit that HC is.

The most underrated Oasis song. Is it though? Really!?! Definitely not on here/amongst Oasis fans. The general public maybe, but that's cos they're obviously not even aware of it's existence.

Like Go Let It Out, Who Feels Love, and Let's All Make Believe, Gas Panic! showed the direction Noel's songwriting was moving into, and it was very exciting at the time. Oasis were evolving and showing they weren't content with playing Britpop into a new decade. If they had taken an extra year off and not surrounded the gems with the throwaways that make up the rest of the album, Oasis' second decade might have been very different.

Yes absolutely. Great lyrics, great bassline, wonderful vocal, amazing guitar work and incredible psychedelic sounds throughout. Plus it has a harmonica solo AND a flute! What is there not to like?! lol
Also on the demo version which Noel sings there's a flute solo instead of the harmonica, and even that is frickin' cool!
