And imagine it in rainbow colour, cycling through each colour for every 7th song, to represent the inherent stylistic diversity in Noel Gallagher's music, and the equality which it promotes Sadly I'll never reach the heights of a Pitchfork review and so I pray at the altar of Ryan Schreiber and co. for their persistent wit and professionalism at conveying and justifying their opinions of music pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/9464-shine-on/ How small we must all seem to them.

So the ratings start at 9.25 and after the 29th song they get below 5, which in many grading systems would indicate a "fail". Are you sure a linear function can adequately express how much you enjoy these songs? Maybe you should add more variables to account for variations in mood and environment.

So the ratings start at 9.25 and after the 29th song they get below 5, which in many grading systems would indicate a "fail". Are you sure an inverse linear function can adequately express how much you enjoy these songs? Maybe you should add more variables to account for variations in mood and environment.
My mood's about as predictable as the weather, if not less so because often it depends on the weather... Anyways, if I'm gonna go down that route, might as well just generate random numbers and give them as the ranking. import java.util.Random;
public class Generator {
public static void main(String[] args) {
//Initialising variables
Random rn = new Random();
float[] nghfbTracksRanking = new float[40];//Declaring stuff
for (int i =0;i<40;i++)//Iterating over all NGHFB tracks, even the shit ones.
{
float rnd1=rn.nextFloat();//Averaging over two random numbers to reduce probability of extreme values
nghfbTracksRanking[i]=(float) ((rn.nextFloat()+rnd1)*2.5+3.8);//Scaling to a mean of 6.3 with a range of 5
System.out.println("Track #"+(i+1)+" is ranked :"+nghfbTracksRanking[i]);
}
}
}
So yeah, maybe in retrospect, the higher ranked albums should have a higher ranking and I probably should've sorted them that way, but it's Thursday morning, feck it.

You could have done that shit in about 3 seconds in Matlab
Plus the ratings are not precise enough for a Pitchfork rating. It needs more decimals plus a randomly generated essay. You can get some inspiration from this:

I'm slow with MATLAB, only ever have had to use it a couple of days at a time, so I've never really become familiar with it (although yeah it's good with arrays, matrices and the like). And the ratings implicitly were multiples of pi 2 , so no worries with the number of decimal places Also, nice link, will probably forward an article or two onto some English students & see if they take it seriously Although for Pitchfork, the phrase "Thom Yorke approves/disapproves of this album" would probably do the job just as well.

I second that, Doc Lobster. MATLAB is simply the best for this kind of stuff. By the way... it was only a matter of time before geeky talks about MATLAB started appearing in a ranking thread on this forum

I feel that 'While The Song Remains The Same' is quickly becoming Noel's most overrated track by the fans. It's a good tune, but some on here praise it like it's 'Live Forever' or 'Don't Look Back in Anger'. It's not.
It has no business being #1 here.

Its a very nice song, a bit Part Of The Queue part 2 which I also really like. However I'd put EOTR, IIHAG, TDOYAM, AOTR, BOTMI, all comfortably ahead. It's a top 10 HFB song in my opinion.

Just because WTSRTS is most people's (myself included) favorite NGHFB song doesn't mean we think it's on par with the classics you mentioned. It doesn't even mean we think it should have been a single. It just means it's our personal favorite. You want us to reconsider lol?

My favorite song changes......'You Know We Can't Go Back' was my favorite for a while; 'I'd Pick You Every Time' was once my favorite song, great albums....can't imagine Noël's third album not being at least good, probably great.
Thanks.

'Alone On The Rope' is the best song so far.
Followed by 'The Death Of You And Me' and then 'While The Song Remains The Same'

I like the production and its one his best vocals, didn't realise it was that highly regarded to be honest.
