Can't rank them as they're all interchangeable but, for the moment, here you go:
There Is A Light That Never Goes Out Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before Back To The Old House (Peel Sessions Version) The Hand That Rocks The Cradle Rubber Ring

My favourites:
1. Barbarism Begins At Home 2. There Is a Light That Never Goes Out 3. Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now 4. Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me 5. The Boy with the Thorn in His Side
I never listen to The Smiths these days, but I'll always be thankful to them for the year or so I spent absolutely obsessed with them when I was at college, a few years back; they were a great comfort to me. That's not to say I needed comforting -- college was alright, it was mostly bearable -- but there's just something about the sound of those records that makes perfect sense to a 17 year old and is, somehow, massively reassuring.
It is amazing that, 30 years on, Morrissey's lyrics from that time still so accurately mirror what it's like to be a teenager in rainy old England.

Best band of all time. This ain't gonna be easy...
But at least I have a top 2 which cannot be altereD (in random order):
How Soon Is Now? Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want (That mandolin has brought tears to my eyes more than once)
The remaining three tracks are as follows...
Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now The Boy With The Thorn In His Side These Things Take Time (Louder Than Bombs version)
Honourable mentions: That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore, This Night Has Opened My Eyes. At least for now.

1. There Is A Light That Never Goes Out (one of the most beautiful songs ever written) 2. The Boy With The Thorn In His Side 3. Ask 4. Panic 5. Cemetry Gates
Except n°1, it always changes, and there are quite a few other songs that could be on there: This Charming Man, How Soon Is Now?, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, Stop Me..., Bigmouth Strikes Again, Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others, etc.

As being a huge The Smiths fan, it's impossible for me to rank only 5, but here you go. These songs have always special spots in my heart.
- Reel Around The Fountain - Still Ill - Hand In Glove - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - Well I Wonder

Would be hard enough to do a top 25! Just reading what other people picked makes me realize how many great ones I'm leaving out...

As being a huge The Smiths fan, it's impossible for me to rank only 5, but here you go. These songs have always special spots in my heart. - Reel Around The Fountain - Still Ill - Hand In Glove - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - Will I Wonder Well I Wonder just missed out the top five for me - on another day, it's my favourite Smiths song. It does puzzle me however that, despite the plaudits they and tons of their individual songs constantly receive, this one flies under the radar and is unheralded in the general scheme of things. I think it is arguably their most beautiful track ever - a haunting vocal from Morrissey and the layered acoustic guitar work from Johnny floors me every single time I hear it, especially that outro.

I really love this song. The outro with rain drops makes me cry sometimes. Despite of the album title and title track, Meat Is Murder is the most The Smiths album with pureness and clearness.

I could choose Hand In Glove Well I Wonder Half A Person Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me Barbarism Begins At Home ...and wouldn't even feel bad that I left all the popular songs out. Well, This Charming Man should always be in top-5, though

This is a tough one.
I Started Something I Couldn't Finish Some Girls Are Bigger Then Others The Hand That Rocks The Cradle The Queen is Dead Frankly Mr Shankly
You can't do a top 5 for The Smiths, one of the last truly great British bands really.
