Hey guys, I was lucky enough to get tickets for Liam in the Barrowlands. My question is, has anyone been there lately? Has the security changed much? I went there in 2011 with my recording equipment and set all the metal detectors off, but they still let me in without even a pat down. Will they stop me this time? I usually keep my stuff down my trousers

I went to see the complete stone roses in november i think and it there was quite extensive security checks taking place. It took ages to get in. My memory is shady though as I was smashed.

5years ago I got pulled aside and held for taking prescription meds into the Barras after being frisked. The security guard didn't believe me they were legal and was giving me "aye right". Then he went away (probably Googled them) came back and apologised. Shit story.

Security is quite tight. Sniffer dogs outside. Inside a quick pat down and metal detector still. Basically typical Glasgow night out ruined..no drugs or blades!!
Seriously though as much as I'd love a recording of the gig as I am going too..I wouldn't mate

I'm considering staying away from here up until after the barrowlands gig to keep the setlist a surprise. Will anybody be doing likewise? It'll be tough.

It's a pain in the arse but it was worth it last time for BE at the barras as Cigarettes & Alcohol & Live Forever are up with my favourites live. Saying that they started in Ireland only 2 nights before so it wasn't as long.

Best music venue in the world. Bang on Matt. LG is the king of the place. Yep, can't deny that Liam himself (from past performance there) has increased the venue's legendary status. But also bands like Manic Street Preachers and The Smiths have had the gigs of their lives at the place. It's such a pressure cooker - condensation pours from the walls with the furore in the place. It's proper live music at it's most raw and authentic, and with a Glaswegian crowd behind the bands that play there, you'd be hard pressed to find a more ruckus atmosphere. I used to live in a flat nearby it (off Gallowgate, more accurately Duke Street) up until the end of last year - everyday I passed it, I always thought it was so cool living in the shadow of such an iconic venue for my favourite bands. Liam's going to have a great gig there. It will be a brilliant night no doubt.

Best music venue in the world. Paradiso for me. Is that your local venue mimmi or is it the renowned hotspot of the Netherlands? EDIT: Just had a look at some pictures of it on google - looks classy with its rustic style.

I usually keep my stuff down my trousers Security at the Ritz last night was pretty tight. Everyone getting patted down, queue went round the corner - people were going to Sainsbury's to buy cans for the queue! Completely understandable given recent events. Whether Barrowlands will be the same and whether they'll care about recording gear I can't say.

Yeh its understandable they are more thorough woth the searches. I always put my equipment down my trousers anyway, so even with a pat down im ok. The only reason ill get caught is a detector/wand
