Led Zep for me, The Who is great and produced great albums like Tommy, Who's Next, Quadrophenia, but they should have ended after Keith Moon's death, however Led Zep was way more consistent, almost all of their albums are masterworks. I like both bands but if I had to pick one then LZ.

Not sure how The Who are "winning" this thing. Zeppelin had more masterpiece albums. Because it's an opinion poll. I like the best Who songs more than the best Zeppelin songs, although both are great. I listen to the Who more. Therefore I voted for them. Also I know this moment isn't them in their prime because no Moon, but last Entwistle US performance and great moment! In their own time it wasn't even close. They out sold The Who in albums and tickets sales. Got better reviews. It's interesting 40 years later to see that dynamic shift. Is it because the "Who" are still going and Zeppelin packed it in 36 years ago?

Neither are in my top 10 bands, I've never really been able to really get into either but both have their moments
I found the Who's Best of more enjoyable than Led Zep's but when i explored more I found more Led Zep tracks I like,
If I was to do my 10 favourite songs from each band I think Led Zep would shade it

The Who for me.
Never really been a fan of Led Zeppelin, like a few of their songs of course but much prefer The Who overall.

I think the CSI franchise kinda ruined it for me. Every time I listen to a song by The Who it reminds me of those shows

When Led Zeppelin announced they would perform at the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert, over 20 million people (a world record) applied for tickets, only 15,000 selected. Not sure The Who could generate such traffic. Granted different circumstances and legacy.

This is so difficult for me, as I adore both bands. Without question, Pete Townshend was the better composer; for as much as I love Zep's music, they never came close to matching the visionary artistry of Tommy, The Who Sell Out, and Quadrophenia.
But, at the end of the day, I would rather listen to Led Zeppelin. And that's mainly because of their style of play. They were by far better musicians, as a whole. Their instrumentation wasn't as busy as The Who's, and therefore easier to digest. For example, Keith Moon is exhausting to listen to as he's always on the verge of losing control. There's very little rhyme or reason to his playing. He was like the drumming equivalent to Yngwie Malmsteen; he could play a thousand notes and not say a thing with them. And while John Entwistle is one of the greatest bassists ever without question, I've come to prefer a more tasteful style over the years. And you get that with John Paul Jones. You can tell that he plays like an arranger (his pre-Zep gig) and tries to come up with something to suit the song. The same goes with John Bonham's playing. It's been said that it's not what notes you play, but why you play them. And that's the case with JPJ and Bonzo in comparison to The Ox and Moonie.

Having a great singer and great musicians in the same band doesn't nessicarly mean they will make good music, the members of both bands are fantastic at what they do on an individual basis and somehow managed to combine to make great music as well, it's a very hard call, but I'll say the who because of rodger dalterys description in the kids are alright- "four of the most orrible cun*s you could ever meet making the most orrible noise you've ever heard"
