Oh yes I can bear that one haha. Even then I was never a fan of that Busted/Avril Lavigne style of pop-punk, but WIGTSF and Year 3000 do take me back to primary school discos, kids parties and stuff like that.

Nothing guilty about liking Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, or Lizzo. They're all class.
What a tune!

I think what most people mean when saying a song/artist is a guilty pleasure is that it's something from a genre/of a certain sound that they normally don't listen to. A good example for me is Telephone by Lady Gaga, but since it's genuinely great I of course don't feel guilty about it. We simply have to come up with an equally catchy but more accurate term!

I'd agree with you! There is no guilty pleasure, only the things you love and enjoy, so no shame in any of the songs.

As I think I wrote in another post in this thread, there are some actual guilty pleasures though - when you listen to, and in that way economically help(no matter to how small extent) terrible people. Best example for me is Ted Nugent who actually has a few killer tunes, too bad he's an absolute dickhead

In response to comments above, I do agree that what makes something a guilty pleasure is an individual’s taste; hence it varies between people..
For example, I love eighties pop music, and friends disliking that era have called some of my favourite songs (Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know, Madonna’s Holiday) their guilty pleasures. In contrast, I hate most modern, autotuned pop music, but i’ll admit to a soft spot for Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream”, an artist my sister openly adores.

Nobody says that you should feel ashamed but we all know what that phrase ''guilty pleasure songs'' means, so come on, more songs, less talking I guess I'm just too literal a person (not a new thought), but I was struggling to come up with pop songs I like that I felt guilty about! I just straight up adore Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, a lot of Lizzo's stuff, "Old Town Road" from last year... There's no guilt involved.
For actually guilty pleasure, this is a favorite. If you read it in earnest (and I think maybe you're supposed to?) the lyrics are so entitled and whiny, but I just find them hilarious, especially in combination with the video. And it's a great earworm.

There's no such thing as a guilty pleasure when it comes to music.
Having said that, there's one performer that I'd never admit I listen to.

I don't believe in guilty pleasures either. If you like something, like it and own it! Who cares what anyone else thinks? If they have something to say, fuck 'em. Taste is subjective, after all.
There are some great pop songs out there if you keep your ears and mind open. The Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, N Sync, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, etc. all have some bangers.

Think Busted first started when I was about 7 or 8, big nostalgia for this one. Their first album was one of the first I ever had.

Think i was about 5, but was a music nerd from a young age haha. Read Smash Hits magazine, got every NOW CD and watched TOTP weekly I was never a huge fan of that type of boyband punk, however my cousin who i spent school holidays with always had their albums on. And they always had em on at the junior school disco ! Takes me back

Forgot this jam. I dislike this era nowadays, it’s the time I was introduced to pop music and it was the beginning of what we have today. But despite hating some of her other hits, I really do like this one.

2000 was a great year for pop/chart music. Anthems galore! I won't deny there's some good stuff in that late 90s/early 2000s era, and luckily its mostly the better stuff thats still heard today. I can name several pop songs from that era that are among my favourites of all time (Roger Sanchez's Another Chance, Daft Punk's One More Time, Tom Jones' Sex Bomb, Spiller's Groovejet, Eminem's The Real Slim Shady). But i also feel that era overall was what began the final descent into all the manufactured, autotuned stuff we have a lot of now. A lot of things really seemed manufactured, artists of genres like pop-punk & rap-metal sort of blurred together, with everyone doing guest spots on songs with ten credited songwriters etc. Just the introduction of many things that haven't really gone away since.
