Ok kids, what did everyone score this morning? I personally nabbed..................
- The Beatles' Strawberry Fields Forever/Penny Lane 7"
- Pearl Jam's State of Love and Trust/Breath 7"
- The Smiths' Boy With A Thorn In His Side 7"
I passed on the Bowie Honky Dory demos, it was way too much. $55. I would need to hear it first. I also regret not grabbing the John Williams 7" A New Hope single. Fuck.

Think I'm gonna try to get Hats Off To The Buskers LP. They're great band.

Well done, Lennon2217. I need to go to my local record shop this week as I wasn't at home yesterday. and @driver7, I still have the first EP and the first single (7 inch) by The View. Hats Off To The Buskers was a great debut album.

Ended up not doing record store day this year. The last couple of years has seen a real decline for me. There's been less rarities and interesting releases available. Instead, it's mostly been infiltrated by record labels and large bands that know they can put out anything and it will sell because of the supply and demand that is record store day.
Imo, in the next couple of years, Record Store day will lose its appeal across the board because of the releases becoming too generic.

I reluctantly went this year as there wasn't really anything I desperately wanted, I got to the front of the queue and they had just sold out of the McCartney cassette, and they wanted £20 for the Beatles 7" which were the 2 main things I wanted. Its officially gone mad, the whole thing reeks of greed more and more nowadays, and what they have on offer is rarely exciting. In future I definitely wont bother except for oasis releases. In the end all I got was the Bastille one for my sister and that cost me £16.99! for a 7" single! Total fucking rip off.

The funny thing was that while in New York a few weeks back I went to a flea market and managed to get Revolver, Yesterday and Today and All The Best by McCartney in excellent condition all for $25. Which was less than what I would have paid for that Strawberry Fields 7" on Saturday! I'll stick with my normal approach to buying records on the cheap from record fares, boot fares and charity shops.

I spent a grand total of $23 on The Beatles, The Smiths and Pearl Jam 7". The most expensive thing I saw was the Bowpromo from Hunky Dory at around $53. I actually thought the pricing on all the albums and singles were fair. It was like $22 for a LP and $9 for a single.

The shop I went to was definitely majorly taking the piss but even the set prices are going up far quicker than they should be each year. In 2005 when I bought the 7" singles from DBTT they were £2.99 each I believe.

I'm all for supporting independent record stores (although, I must say, the one which is closest to me is in downtown Milan, which requires spending at least 10 euros on train+underground alone), but the prices are gone crazy in the last years.
And I'm not talking about those fecking eBay hoarders... when you're at a shop and they ask you 20 euros for a 7 inch single, you know that something is not right. I really wanted to get the Smiths and the War on Drugs singles this year, but I decided to give them a pass.
I love the concept behind Record Store Day, but unfortunately it's become just another money-making machine.

I was happy to leave the record shop with my dignity and nothing else.

It was like $22 for a LP and $9 for a single. i went to two different shops. they each had the springsteen for $85. really? i also saw a live cars album that looked interesting, but it was $35. i did buy a few 'normal' records on saturday though. a sting album for $3, joe jackson's 'beat crazy' for a buck, and, my big purchase of the day, the foo fighters EP (still sealed) for $6. at a record show a couple of weeks ago i got zeppelin 1 & 4, the who 'who's next', and a public enemy 12", all for $2.50 each. and they were all in nice condition! i guess i am a bargain basement shopper when it comes to buying my records, but in my humble opinion you don't need to break the bank to build up a nice collection.

Sadly that's very very true. Weller stopped to contribute RSD as his RSD release 3 years ago ended up in eBay. I was lucky enough to grab the last copy in a record shop. Noel's RSD release in 2015 was a tough one to get, but my friend in England got me a copy. His last year's RSD release (The Mexican picture disc) was supposed to be an exclusive one, but they even sold it on his official store afterwards. I wouldn't have bothered if it wasn't for my local record shop. My local record shop is truly heaven for any music lovers. Very small and messy, but you can always rely on the owner who has passion and love for music. I often wonder how can he make a living by running such a small record shop, but it's not my business.

Just got "You Can't Stop What's Coming" by The The (7 inch) in my local record shop. Couldn't get The Smiths one, but I'm happy as Johnny played for The The.

When I got to my store on Saturday when it opened, they probably had a dozen Smiths singles. I was the first or second to grab one. Didn't seem like the hot item at first in my store. Americans asleep on The Smiths! They are all gone now unfortunately. Good luck hunting. #TrumpWillKillAmerica

Lennon2217, these are my this year's RSD purchase: PS: I like your new avatar. Very nice finds especially since it's a week later now. Glad you found The Smiths. Been long gone around my parts. I visited the Princeton Record Exchange, big indie shop, they had none of the cool stuff but did have 6-7 Pearl Jam 7"s. I was shocked. At my local store people would have knife fought over them. We got 2 copies. I scored one. PS: Thanks. Needed a Lennon face lift.

I went to another 3 record shops in my area last week. One had some of Prince's 12 inch left, one had only one copy of The Beatles 7 inch and another still had Quadrophenia green LP (I had it in my hand, but didn't buy it), The Small Faces 7 inch and Kasabian 7 inch single. I'm so happy that I found The Smiths 7 inch after my search journey. But to be honest, I'm not sure if I will keep contribute to RSD as it became a too big business. Real fans can't get what they really want while so many money grabbing idiots make money of it.

I found that if you commit to it, wake up very very early and go to your local record store to be online, you'll nail what you are looking for. Kinda like those parents who go out during the holiday to find that "gotta have it" toy or whatever. You gotta commit to it. It's also fun to do that with other like minded people online who share in the spirit.

It's also fun to do that with other like minded people online who share in the spirit. Thanks. I've followed and contributed to RSD since 2012. Noel's "Songs From The Great White North" 12 inch white vinyl was my first ever RSD purchase. My local record shop didn't even get one copy, so I went to another shop, but no luck. 2 days later I picked my phone and called another shop and asked if they have one. Woman in the shop had no idea and she never heard of Noel Gallagher, but she was kind enough to look what she still had from RSD release and there was still one copy of Noel's left. I thanked her and told her that I'll be in the shop next morning and she kept it for me. My copy is European release, so non-numbered (unlike the UK release), but I was so happy. I had to travel by train for half an hour, but I felt like a kid who got her birthday present and Christmas present at same time. Since then I was always one of the first people who were standing at the front of my local record shop on RSD day. Unfortunately I was away for weekend this year's RSD day, but my search journey paid off. It's also fun to do that with other like minded people online who share in the spiritI know what you're saying and I feel same when I'm in the queue for gigs.
